Rated 4 out of 5 by from Heavy Duty 15" Speaker grillesI trust my Dayton heavy duty speaker grilles to protect my valuable speakers and they do the job perfectly. I have some extremely expensive irreplaceable Altec Lansing studio monitor woofers, and I cannot afford an accident. These most definitely are heavy duty, and thanks to the rubber edges, there is absolutely no vibration whatsoever. They look attractive, and you can still see your attractive speaker cones; you just cannot accidentally get in there and tear or break them. The only drawback, and it is a mild one, is the grille clamps. The stock method of using the clamps require you to pull out the speakers, put numerous holes in your cabinets, and use of tee sockets and large bolts. I just used semi long wood screws and washers and installed them from the front. Not exactly out of the manual, but it works. If you value your woofers, this is the way to go. The metal is strong and truly heavy duty, yet you can see the speakers so you have the attractiveness factor if you take your main grilles off. Well done Dayton. You won't regret getting these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superior protectionVery high quality. If you are thinking of purchasing economy to save a few dollars, think again. I put mine over an old pair of speakers to test them, and couldn't damage these under normal circumstances, involving being kicked, and being bumped roughly against a corner in the middle of the grille. When it comes to an investment (a.k.a. your speaker) why risk it?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from When you need protection?Either you need a heavy duty grill or you don't. If you need one this is a great one. I love the rubber lined edge.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Must for Touring Cabinets!I have used Dayton Grilles exculsivly on all my touring cabinet builds and they have never failed to protect my speakers. They are heavy enough to withstand being kicked without denting!(take my word for it!) I have never had a problem with them fitting the specified speaker in front mounted cabinets using many different brand speakers. I gave them a 4 for features because they don't come with mounting hardware and a 4.5 for value for the same reason, still adding both costs together they are still a good value and a must-have investment on any speaker you move from plac to place.

Based on the dimensions given, the 15" grill will fit nicely on the frames of my 15"speakers. So is the intention to use the speaker mount bolts to secure these to the speaker frames and baffle? Can the grill flange be drilled to allow mounting in this wa

Asked by: TPK1
The edge of this grill is a rubber gasket and is not meant to be drilled through. These grills are designed to be mounted with a grill clamp kit like below.

Do you use the 18" model to over-cover a 15" driver or, if you use a 15" model, how would that install exactly on a 15" driver?

Asked by: mixmasters
These are designed to fit on top of the mounting flange of a speaker, so you will want to use the grill size that matches the speaker. These will not work with most half-roll surround type subwoofer drivers however.

Do these grills clear the surrounds of the RSS390-4 HF 15" subwoofer?

Asked by: Anonymous
Unfortunately no, the only grills we offer that will work with the high excursion subwoofers are the bar grills.
