Parts Express Handheld Audio Generator
Novice needs basic information.
Would this work for diagnosing faults in audio (tube and ss) preamps and amps? What about receivers? Is this what you "inject a signal" with? You would also need an oscilloscope to observe the pattern?
Dear dogwalker,This device is used just in the way you described. In analyzing audio equipment this would be used as a audio source. This devices output would be applied (injected) to the input of an audio circuit such as the preamp, amplifier or receiver. The output would be monitored with equipment such as a oscilloscope, AC voltmeter or distortion meter to detect faults and errors or issues associated with the device under test. Should you need a audio source to substitute in your system to evaluate whether that device is at fault or is the preamplifier or amplifier is the issue this device would serve as a audio source to verify for instance whether you're CD player did not output a signal by applying this instead of the CD player. This could be monitored through your speakers to locate the fault in your system. In the case of the receiver being tested only audio would be tested through the inputs to the output and not the radio portion of the receiver as this could not be used as a radio source.Best regards,Eric
