Product Details

Parts Express BT-1A Bluetooth Receiver Module for Wireless Reception of Bluetooth Audio Signals

The BT-1A module builds upon the success of the orignal BT-1 Bluetooth audio receiver, and improves upon it by moving the power and audio connections on-board (2.5 x 1 mm power jack and stereo 3.5 mm audio jack), reducing the overall size of the module, and adding voice prompts for pairing and connection instructions.

The BT-1A is designed to integrate wireless Bluetooth audio from smartphones, tablets, or laptops into speakers and subwoofers, car audio applications, and remote wireless amplifiers. Additionally, this module may be used to create a wireless link between a Bluetooth source and a traditional amplifier, receiver, preamplifier, or mixer.

Features of this Bluetooth v1.2 compliant receiver module include a small form factor, a Class 2 range of up to 15 meters (49.2 feet), and 16-bit A2DP support for true stereo output. A USB A-Male to 2.5 x 1 mm power plug cable and a stereo 3.5 mm male plug to 3.5 mm jack extension cable are included with the module for quick connection and use. The USB A-Male plug is used as a power connection that uses 5 VDC off of the USB bus from a computer or powered USB hub.

Specifications: • Supply voltage: 3.3 to 5.0 VDC • Supply current: 50 mA • Operating frequency: 2.4 to 2.483 GHz • Bluetooth specification: v1.2 • Output power class: Class 2 • Receiver sensitivity: -80 dBm • Output level: 1V RMS • Output impedance: 1k ohm • Frequency response: 20-20,000 Hz (-3 dB) • Sampling: 44.1 kHz, 16-bit • Signal-to-noise ratio: 70 dB • THD: < 0.1% @ 1 kHz • Dynamic range: 85 dB • Channel separation: 65 dB • PCB dimensions: 3/4" W x 2-1/2" L • Includes 12" USB power cable and 18" stereo male to stereo female audio cable • Audio output cable length: 18".

Note: This device only receives stereo Bluetooth audio. The USB cable included is only for powering the BT-1A. This device does not transmit a Bluetooth signal, and does not convert the digital USB audio output to analog. Ground loops can occur when using a grounded (3-prong plug) computer as the power source. Please see the Related Items section for the Axxess 3.5 mm ground loop isolator to solve this issue if it occurs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from RabbiBad fidelity. Spend more money for quality. OK for data, but not sound.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and EasyI purchased this receiver to put in a homemade boob box that I am currently making and it is just what I need for adding wireless connecting to transfer music. I hooked up the receiver, the LED light came on, and it showed up within a second on the Iphone "devices" list to be able to connect to then connected no problem. The module did not distort the music at all and I hope it lasts for a long time!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I needed! Was looking for a device that you didn't need to fuss with pressing a button every time you got in your car. And I found it on Parts Express! This allows me to get into my car and just go to my playlist or fave station on my phone and instant music!! No extra buttons to hold down for pairing, or on/off just automatic music. Now I just need someone to tell me exactly how to wire a steps own power supply to it from a 12v source so I can bypass my cigarette lighter I'd be golden!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great but would like to see a newer version!First of all these modules work flawlessly, are compact and easy to integrate. The only downside is that I make Bluetooth speakers for techy people and on more than one occasion have been asked what version of Bluetooth and a techy doesn't want to hear "v1.2", he wants to hear "v3.0 or v4.0" whether it makes a difference in sound or options doesn't matter. So, long story short, a v3.0 would be nice. I've ordered a few from China but I would be willing to pa a few bucks more to get it from Parts Express.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect pairing with dta-2I Bought this to put in a boombox build using some nd90's and the dta-2. After I figured out how to tap into the dta-2's switch so this little guy would turn on and off with the dta-2 I was in business. Aside from the aforementioned voice commands being slightly irritating its not too bad and perhaps that voice confirmation is a bit nice. I would suggest that the led be wired like on the dta-2 and instead of voice confirmation the led would turn from red to blue or something along those lines. There is an led on this unit but its a small one wired on the board so not practical to move. Afterall most people are gonna bury this inside a diy box. To see how I wired it to operate off the dta-2 pot switch... http://techtalk.parts-express.com/showthread.php?240924-Using-a-DTA-2-amp-potentiometer-to-Power-on-and-off-a-BT-1A-bluetooth-module

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great!Needed something to allow me to Bluetooth from my iPhone to our (older) Bose Radio. The BT-1A is a snap to set up and works just as described. This was my 1st purchase from Parts Express and I am very pleased with product, price and delivery.

What is the mechanism for connecting this device to a stereo receiver with Left:Right (red:white) inputs? I take it it also requires a power source. Would an apple two prong -> USB connector work?

Asked by: larh
This has a standard 3.5mm stereo output, so any 3.5mm male to RCA cable will work for connecting this to a pair of line level RCA inputs. Any standard 5v USB charger will power this unit.

Asked by: Rochelle
You will need a male to male 3.5mm cable, this does not come with one.

Is there a small plastic case (Like keyless entry remote size) that is offered for the BT-1A to fit in?  If not, is there a similar Blue Tooth product that has a finished case?

Asked by: 316raym
We do have small project boxes available for an application like this although all the holes will have to be custom drilled. We also have Bluetooth receivers already installed in small plastic cases like the one below.http://www.parts-express.com/battery-powered-bluetooth-wireless-audio-receiver-with-power-supply-black--320-355

I saw mention that this device has an indicator LED. Does this LED turn on when a device is paired, or is it just a constant power light?

Asked by: Mas232
The LED light is on all the time on this unit.
