Parts Express 6 Pin Mini DIN Plug
Parts Express 6 Pin Mini DIN Plug is rated 4.2857 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Well, the price is right, so order some extras. How can you go wrong with a connector? I'll give you three ways:1) A couple of connectors in the batch I ordered had straight pins on the cable side instead of solder cups like the rest of them. You can solder a wire to the side of such pins, but it requires some finesse.2) Speaking of finesse, if you have an adjustable iron, use very low heat to solder these, and don't apply it any longer than to get the job done. The slightest bit of excessive heat causes the plastic body that holds the pins to melt, and you'll end up pushing the pins out of position and generally create a mess. Apparently the idea that someone might solder to the pins eluded the designers.3) The outer shell slides over the finished assembly. While it seems intuitive (and is possible) to slide it until the shell and inner plastic bits are flush, leaving just the silver barrel exposed, don't do this. Many pieces of equipment have the female connector recessed enough that the shell will keep the pins from inserting fully into the socket. Don't push the shell all the way forward, but leave 1/4" of the inner plastic shell exposed. See the product photo for how the finished connector should look. The finished product is fine if you avoid the "gotchas". It is well shielded and the clamp design is nice. Just order a couple extras to learn on.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent.I bought this to replace my failing din plug on Klipsch Promedia 2.1's. I have to admit, it has been a while since i soldered a din plug. I have soldered/replaced several din plugs on ham radio's over the years and i remembered now how bad they are to solder since the pins tend to move because the plastic melts from the heat. This is not a problem with Parts Express this is just the nature of the product. There are better quality din plugs out there but they are hard to find.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from "APART FROM THE REST!"In a fluke accident I broke my DIN pin on a KLIPSCH subwoofer! I was bummed out...found a link and referral for PARTS EXPRESS via google and thought I'd give it a shot. Parts arrived on time packaging was fine. I have novice to intermediate solder skills. The pin itself was reliable, well made, no rough edges or burrs. It actually came apart into 3 pieces, which made soldering and installation much more accurate and easy!In summary, I LOVE PARTS EXPRESS!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First time using a 6-Pin DINThis is the first time I've every tried to build my own cable, so it was a little tricky to figure out how to first open it and then solder the connectors. The reverse side of the connector, I discovered, has hollow tubes to allow you to insert the lead and let the solder fill the rest of the space. As far as I can tell, it's a good product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 6 pin mini dinUsed this to repair a Pro Media Speaker System by Klipsch and this is a very inexpensive repair. As the pin description it is small so you really need to know how to solder in small places. Product was just as described and speakers work like new.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very SatisfiedThis product was easy to assemble and use. The pins do not take much heat so caution should be used when soldering.

will this connect to an i pod dock?

Asked by: chriskoenig
Impossible to say without knowing the type of plug on the dock unfortunately. If it uses a standard 6 pin mini DIN connector this should fit.

How to get a wiring diagram to fix a plug.

Where do I get a 6 pin mini din plug wiring diagram so that I can match the wires to the pin? This is for a klipsch speaker system for my computer.
Asked by: Fun Frank
If you search (Google, etc) "6-pin mini DIN diagram" you will receive dozens of useful references on this and related DIN connectors. With that overview in mind, then go to : http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/110556.aspx where you will find the wiring diagram specific to Klipsch speakers.

what type of solder do you use on these, solder paste?

novice at soldering, any advice is appreciated, but I want to fix these (2sets) promedias.
Asked by: RGWag
Just about any solder you're comfortable with should do the job. Given the application, a small diameter solder may be advisable, I've referenced one below for your convenience.
