Parts Express 5K Linear Taper Potentiometer 1/4" Shaft

what is the maximum voltage for this pot

Asked by: 5k ohm linear potentionme
Since this is a 1/4 watt pot, you can use the two formulas: watts = volts x amps, and volts = amps x resistance to determine the maximum voltage. Combine the two formulas and you get: volts = square root (watts x resistance), which is about 35 volts max across the two outside lugs. More than that and it burns out.
