Does this jack accept a 9.5mm or 14mm depth plug? Which is correct?
What is the maximum thickness of the panel that this Panel Mount Metal DC Power Jack 2.5 x 5.5 mm will fit.
This jack will mount to panels no thicker than 1/16" thick.

I am looking for a 2.5mm male DC power panel mount connector. Anyone know if they even make those?
Unfortunately we do not have any male DC type power connectors that are chassis mount.

Will 9 volts input work on this jack?
You mentioned that 12 - 24 is the rated voltage on this jack. Will 9 volts work as well?
Yes 9 volts will work fine with this jack.

Wiring the by-pass
In one of the reviews someone states that the 3rd terminal is used as a battery by-pass. How would something like that be wired? Thank you.
Let us call the center pin terminal 1, this will (typically) be the positive (+) connection. The other two terminals (for the sake of argument) will be common (-), and switched. Simply use a multimeter to test for continuity on the various terminals. The "third" terminal will have continuity to the (-) terminal when the DC plug is disengaged. One would use this terminal to switch the common for the batteries on and off.
