Rated 1 out of 5 by from FragileThis jack self-destructed when I pulled ever so slightly on one of the wire leads, to test the solder connection.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Didn't make it to the gameI purchased one to fix a basketball possession arrow's Power connector. This was to be the third (different) connector. My co worker soldered it up and went to plug it in to test it and it broke into two pieces. Glad it was on the bench and not at the game. Now looking for a heavier connector. As always parts express's shipping was quick. I will continue to shop with them. Just too light of a part for our job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Battery or AC optionI'm using this jack to power my portable speakers that use a built in battery or AC power source. The internal amp will run off the battery if nothing is plugged in, and run off the AC power source when plugged in. Once the AC source is unplugged it switches to the battery source. Exactly what i was looking for.

Why are there 3 solder lugs on a DC jack? Which is outer sleeve and which is inner sleeve? What is the purpose of the third lug?

See rear view detail photo, it shows all three lugs.
Asked by: Jediok
Two of these lugs are a ground, both are not required for this to work properly.

How do you wire correctly?

Asked by: Drake
Some electronic devices are wired (-) ground and some are (+) ground. Be sure how your device is wired before installing this power jack.Typically, in order to avoid accidentally shorting the recessed center post is (+). Simply solder the (+) wire to the (+) tab and the (-) to the (-) tab and you are done. If your device requires a chassis mount then you can use a jumper wire as detailed above or search PE for a chassis mount jqck.

Which Universal AC adapter would work best with this, 2.1mm x 5.0mm or 2.1mm x 5.5mm?

Asked by: VincenT
We recommend a 2.1mm x 5.5mm plug, the one linked below would be a solder-on plug we suggest using with this jack.
