Neutrik Rean NYS373-2 RCA Plug Connector Black with Red Indicator is rated 4.2857 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from No longer have a good connection. These used to be good quality. The latest ones don't have good connectors. The metal is much thinner and has two connect points that can easily break off.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good value DIY / RCAOverall, these parts can be used to create relatively inexpensive custom length RCA cords quickly and effectively. Soldering them is straightforward and easily accomplished with a typical bench-top or butane iron. What did give me some trouble was the strain relief parts. At first glance, they appear to fit into place easily and then simply thread the body onto the end. However, even after a few tries with or without insulation still on the cable, I could not get the parts completely seated. After closer inspection, there is a small slot at the end of the strain relief which does not appear to serve any obvious purpose, and the gap that this creates between the parts does prevent the half-moon conductor from fitting together tightly with the outer body when the parts are assembled.Perhaps I am missing something, but eventually I ended up simply snipping off the excess plastic on the strain relief and then the parts went together smoothly. It could be that the diameter of the cable I was using (Belden 1505F) was slightly to large to allow the stain relief tabs from fitting into the housing correctly. Regardless, the finished connections appear to be solid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice connectorI see some reviews that complain about the strain relief but it has some advantages. This is not a connector that requires any crimping. The upside of this is that if the solder joints should fail, and they inevitably will, this connector can be resoldered or reused indefinitely. We have started using them at work on the test bench for this very reason. Well done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Connectors!Let me start by saying: if you are looking for RCA connectors to repair a cable or make your own, BUY THESE!! These are great for professional use, High quality sound systems, home theaters, and prosumer applications. I have written a detailed review below:These Connectors are great because they are easy to solder, they have a plastic strain relief that's similar to Neutrik XLR connectors, and the size of the cable opening being that I was easily able to squeeze a 1/4" cable inside (the actual opening is slightly smaller, but the opening stretches a little.I do agree with what I have read in previous reviews that the connection when connecting to a female RCA is a little tight but I did not have any problems connecting to my equipment. I do view this to actually be a good thing because unlike a cheap and loose connection which easily can become accidentally unplugged, this tightness makes accidental disconnecting a thing of the past. My suggestion for dealing with these being too tight (if you find these are too tight to fit your connections) is simply using needle nose pliers and gently widening the ring till it fits your needs. BOOM DONE!These connectors are awesome to solder because of the half moon shape for the ground which gives you a lot of surface area to spread the braiding out allowing thicker gauge cables to be used and allowing the ground wire to lay flatter so you aren't fighting the fine line of trying to get enough solder on the ground wire while trying to not put so much solder on that the ground and positive are shorting. The plastic strain relief I have always been a fan of since I ran into it on Neutrik XLR connectors as they are super easy to put onto the cable after soldering as they clamp onto the cable with plenty of force but since it's plastic, I'm never worried about it actually damaging the conductors of the wire. I also like the half moon part of the strain relief that goes over top of all the wire and solder points so when the metal case screws on over top, it prevents accidental shorting to the case.EMM's last thought: It it's worth your time, might as well do it right.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Would be good if magnified 10xGood quality product, but very hard to get the solder to go where it needs to be. Very small part to solder.

Follow-up to 14ga cable question asked above

To elaborate on the OPs question answered (partially) by MattP: can a male solderable RCA connector be recommended for 14 gauge cable, if this is too small?
Asked by: DaveJ
Unfortunately there are no RCA connectors (that we offer) that will work with a cable that large. Additionally, there is no reason to use a cable that large for an RCA type connector. This is a low voltage, low current connection that needs to be shielded. If you have a long run I would recommend using quad shield RG-6 coax cable.

Will these connectors work on AWG14 speaker cable?

Asked by: Redwood
RCA connectors like this are designed for smaller gauge cable. As this only has an opening of 6mm, 14 AWG cable will be a tight fit and is not recommended.

6MM cable?

Do you have to remove the rubber boot to use a 6MM cable with these connectors?
Asked by: The Wall
Yes a 6mm cable will be a very tight fit through the boot, I would recommend removing it for that size.
