Neutrik NL4FC Speakon Connector 4 Pole Cable Mount
Will a 4 pin mail end fit in a 2 pin female?
I want to go spakon on all my stuff.Want to run 4 pin into subs and run 2 pin to mains.I want to make idiot proof!ThanksDavid
I don't exactly understand why would you use 4 pin Speakon for Subwoofer. The purpose for 4 pin connector is to connect bi-amp speakers with the active crossover system, so that the one pair cables drive the tweeters and the other the woofers or mid bass, so that in the subwoofer system the low frequencies would be produced by the subwoofers. They will not need 4 pin connectors and using them would be against general standards unless you have dual woofers where each will have their own feed from two amplifiers. Depending where you use your system and if you have unamplified subs, it would give you better overall sound if you bi-amp you general speakers and use the 4 pin connector there and use the 2 pin connector for your subs. You don't need stereo for subs if you crossover low enough as they usually are under 200Hz most likely around 120Hz. You can connect them depending their impedance either parallel (8ohms) or series (4ohms). We have used 2 large 2x18" Subs with active crossover with one largen enough amplifier with good results and have the general speakers driven through active crossover and two stereo amplifiers. That way you would make the standard connections and it would be idiot proof, only this way, according to accepted standards. You would need to make proper pass through connection for the subs if you have more than one cabinet.

Do I need NL4FC or NL4FX or NL2FC?
I have 2 wire 14 gauge 50ft speaker wires with TS ends. I'd like to cut them in half and put speakons on the other side. What Neutrik end do I need? I have JBL speakers and a Peavey 8600D amp. Thanks
You could use any of them. The NL2FC is for 2 wire and would be the most common one for your purpose. If you use either of the NL4 parts, they are meant for 4 wire. You would use contact 1+ and 1-, leave 2+ and 2- empty. Both connectors will fit your JBL speakers.
