Is the D-shaped housing plastic?

I was thinking of using two of these for an amplifier that I'm building to get the input signal to the amp. Is that what these are generally used for? Also, what is the housing made of? It looks like it may be some type of cast material or is it plastic?Lastly, is there any pictures available of the rear of the product? There's a lot you can't see from just the front view. Seeing the rear would make it easier to determine if it will fit our needs.
Asked by: TomZ
This product's shell is die-cast zinc alloy, not plastic. I've included a photo of the back of the item for your reference. Please excuse the cell phone quality of the photo.
