Morel MDT 12 1-1/8" Neodymium Tweeter

The Morel MDT-12 is a chamberless neodymium design that offers big tweeter performance in an ultra-compact package. Measuring only 3/4" deep, it uses Morel's standard 1-1/8" dome and a powerful neodymium motor for big sound. The ferrofluid in the gap, self-shielded design, and smooth overall response make this tweeter applicable to conventional two-ways and home theater systems.

Morel MDT 12 1-1/8" Neodymium Tweeter
Morel MDT 12 1-1/8" Neodymium Tweeter is rated 4.6111 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very satisfied with these tweeters!I bought these about 2-3 years ago and have been using them in my car ever since. I trimmed the corners of the faceplate with a rotary tool and made custom grill covers to fit these snugly in the factory locations. I am using these with Dayton RS150-4 woofers in the doors. They both were listed at 89dB sensitivity but I added 5.5 Ohms of padding to the tweeters to match them to my liking giving me a final load of 3 Ohms to the amplifier (JL Audio HD 900/5). Using a 1.5uF capacitor in conjunction with the series resistance I end up with approximately a 7800Hz crossover frequency. The RTA shows I have a very flat response from about 2-20KHz.The sound: Very satisfied, they provide for great sound in the upper mid-range and treble frequencies. When I turn the volume up it is as though there were a drummer on my hood and no windshield in the way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great in A CarI Installed 6 of these in my friends Mercedes 2 in the front doors 2 in the CenterChannel dash and 2 more in the rear. The nice thing about these speakers being8 ohms they didnt need to be padded( ad resistors) the smooth sound quality isgreat, crisp for a soft dome as well. I used fast caps by solen this combo wasperfect in my opinion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Tweeter!I used a pair of these Morel tweeters in my competition car in MECA World Finals 2012, and ended up with 4th place, I was very happy with these tweeters and you can't argue with the great price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pure pure pure!I am going to buy at least 4 more for all my projects! My goodness these tweeters are incredible! Soooo smooth! X-overed at about 5KHz in a three way.PROS: Small size, accurate on and off axis, smooth as butter, no "shrill", "sizzle", or plastic sound...just pure high end. Sounds great at low AND high volumes. Made in Israel.CONS: Packaging was terrible. They were loosely put in a plastic container with two plastic standoffs to protect the soft dome. One tweeter looked like it has a small hairline crack near the inner screws.BOTTOM LINE: A steal at this price. If small size is important but not corrupting quality...these are for you. Love them and will buy more for other projects on tap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very natural sounding tweeterUsing for a car audio system with Focal woofer and crossover. I wanted to stick with factory locations for mounting. This tweeter has very similar specs to Focal TN-52; which can sound sharp if you cannot mount it close to the woofer. The MDT 12 has a lower fs and smoother sound. I now have the best of both worlds, the dynamics of Focal midwoofer and the smooth, sweet sound of a Morel tweeter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big tweeter performance in a small package.Comfortably handles low crossover points while maintaining decent sound quality and loudness.Perfect for automotive applications as the square mounting flange can be trimmed to fit most factory tweeter locations. As this tweeter can play comfortably down to 2500hz it allows for improved sound quality when running the midbass drivers in the factory off axis door locations.Add the Dayton 2500hz crossover and a 4ohm woofer for a great budget sound stage while using the factory locations.

Mine were stamped "Made in Israel". According to their website, "Morel has been at the forefront of loudspeaker technology since the upstart of the company in 1975. Inspired by his love of music, founder Meir Mordechai set out to create the perfect loudspeaker. His lifelong quest has resulted in successive generations of speakers that consistently set new standards for superb sound quality. In fact, the Morel brand has become an annual recipient of "Best of" and "Innovation" awards for sound reproduction worldwide.Loudspeakers are like musical instruments. While there are many producers of musical instruments of all kinds, only a handful succeed in making the sound that captures the essence and magic of music. Morel's in house design, R&D, and manufacturing enable the company to produce loudspeakers that deliver that magical feeling as natural and transparent as the finest instruments themselves. To reach this zenith in audio reproduction, the human touch is an absolute necessity. Each Morel product is assembled by hand and extensively tested, undergoing seven different quality tests to ensure that it meets the highest standards.Morel has dedicated years of R&D to developing unique technologies that overcome the limitations of car audio and offer exceptional performance--from our Maximo line to our flagship Supremo products. The mark of a good speaker is its ability to transform recordings into "live" performances. Morel's car audio systems hit the mark every time."

would you recommend this tweeter to be used with a dayton audio rs 180 woofer in a two way system crossed at around 1800 hz

Asked by: fatboy
These would be a good match for each other. I would recommend a third order if crossing at 1800 Hz.
