Morel CAT 298 1-1/8" Soft Dome Tweeter
Can I use these for the KEF104.2? Can the faceplate be removed? What is the difference between this and MDT29?
The CAT 298 has been tweaked and improved for better performance. All subtle - but happens with drivers as magnet technology and other things improve - they add them to the new generation of product. The faceplate can be removed however it is an integral part of the drivers performance with regards to dispersion and you would be advised not to do so. As a replacement for the 104.2's - tricky - different impedences and efficiency - plus the KEF is time aligned. I would contact KEF. Another option is to" modify the cabinet and put in a ribbon - something like the Aurum Cantus G2Si Ribbon Tweeter... Good luck with the project !!!

I am useing one of these and two Daytons RS150 8 6I have them crossed at 2500hz Second Order (12db/octave) Two-Way Crossover. What would work better?
Well, you have two very good drivers. Depending on your budget - either go with a 6db/oct crossover, or a full blown 24db/oct crossover - both are in phase and very musical. 12db is the inexpensive way to protect a tweeter but doesn't sound that good... Glad you have the ear to hear it... Use poly caps - 1200 volt, and copper air coils, large gauge... You'll have a hand built crossover that's over-rated to handle peaks and transients without getting over-saturated. I promise - you will hear the capability of you drivers for the first time.
