Product Details

Magnepull XP1000-LC Wire Pulling System

Magnepull is a unique product that is changing the way wires are being installed in walls. Super strength rare earth magnets are used to magnetically couple a wire or pull line through the drywall, allowing the installer to have complete control. Simply attach the pulling device to the end of the cable and couple it through the drywall to the wire retrieval unit. Once coupled, the installer can move the wire retrieval unit onto the outside of the drywall to the desired location, and retrieve the wire or pull line.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great purchaseBought this to pull wires through a insulated wall and it works very well. Keep in mind that if you have metal studs the magnet will be attracted to them and make it difficult to pull. You have to keep every thing centered between the studs. Also if there is any thickness variation to the wall like a piece of plywood behind the sheet rock, the magnets stength is not enough for a solid hook up and might cause a problem. But, all that can be worked through with patience and desire. All in all it made my job way easier!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It works. It does work, but I wasn't able to pop the magnet through a 1 1/8'' hole per the instructions. I had to pull it past the hole and hook the wire. Also, they tell you to drill a 3/4" hole 1/2" from the edge of the attic plate. Well when I drilled two holes that way, they ended up along the edge of the inside wall. I went back and drilled the center of the plates. It worked fine that way even with the fiberglass insulation. I was able to do the job by myself with this tool, but now I have to repair the ceiling and wall. I'd suggest try drilling through the center of the plate first. You can always pull the cable and magnet back up.

Magnepull XP1000-LC Wire Pulling System

Does this work in insulated walls?

Asked by: mike35
Insulation will provide added resistance against the internal magnet/cable assembly. The shape of the internal magnet should slip easily through insulation provided that you take your time with the external magnet runner. To eliminate cable snags, it is recommended to wrap the eyelet and cable with duct tape.
