Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful PerformanceI bought this more than a month ago, I had problems with the first amplifier they sent me, but Parts Express immediately sent me a replacement. I have to say that I'm surprised with the power and the Bluetooth range this small amplifier has. It also has very decent sound quality.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bluetooth isn't great. Everything else is good.Bluetooth takes a while to pair to my iphone/ipad. Sometimes I have to reset it a few times to get it to pair. Once it's paired it will break up a few times a song. Pretty frustrating. Its a good amp if you use the rca inputs. But I just haven't been pleased with the bluetooth function, which is what I mostly use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bluetooth boom boxI've bought 2 of these for a bluetooth boombox. The first unit was for my mother in-law birthday. This amp is very powerful, bluetooth work flawlessly. I like the fact that it has an extra input. I'm going to buy another 1 and use it to power a pair of 3 way tower speakers that I'm going to build for my son. I'll hook the TV output to it and also still have bluetooth capability. Nice amp for short money no need to have a receiver keep it simple. I only wish PE would come up with the next generation with a 2.1 and remote control. I already have project lined up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Powwwweeeerr!Really happy with the purchase, the Bluetooth has a bit of noise in the system, but I don't know if that is really a problem as such. RCA in is 100% awesome.

Lepai LP7498E 200W Class D Digital Amplifier with Bluetooth and Power Supply

The LP749E has great sound but I need more range for the bluetooth. It only works when the portable device is in the same room.

Is there a larger antenna, or an extension cable that will work with this unit?
Asked by: Bimmerguy
I am sorry, we do not have any way to enhance the bluetooth reception on this unit at this time.

Does the amp have an auto on/off switch? Do I need to switch the amp off when not in use?

Asked by: Cliff4d
It does not have an auto on-off. I have mine connected to a power strip so that when it's off, it's off. The external power supply is off as well.

Speaker wiring question

I want to use this amp to power some Bravox marine speakers (M6-IDB) wanted to run 4 speakers, 2 pairs on each channel in a series. They're 4 ohm speakers. Would it be ideal to wire it this way or would I be better off with 2 speakers per channel?
Asked by: Cool amp
It would be ok to wire two sets in series but this will drop the overall output power from the amplifier. However with that much power on tap anyway I don't think this would be an issue.

What are the RMS ratings on this amp? The power brick supplies 165 watts, which is far short of the rated output.

Asked by: Cogito
I would assume that the true RMS figures are closer to2x100-110w @4Ohm, 2x80-90w @ 6Ohm, and 2x60-75w @ 8Ohms. That makes this amplifier still very powerful for such a small size. Those power ratings however are probably only attainable with a proper higher amperage power supply, or it is possibly available from this power supply in sort bursts, like in recreating explosions or loud bass notes. I really look forward to using and "playing" with this new series of lepai amplifier myself, as it looks like they have really stepped up their game! I hope that you enjoy this amplifier if and when you get it!

How to eliminate noise

I'm running this amp 10' from my ipad via bluetooth. As soon it is discovered, there is background noise.Any solutions?
Asked by: Hardrock
There is a risk of noise with all wireless devices--even the $2,000 wireless microphone setups. Try relocating the receiver/amplifier in the room. There may be an interference source in the neighborhood--garage door opener/walki talki anything that uses this frequency or a harmonic of it. If all else fails, call the seller and see what your options are. I know from experience that PE has a really good return/exchange policy. I know how frustrating these things are.

Does the Bluetooth protocol support APT-X?

Without it, Bluetooth is very compressed and makes any good amp sound terrible.
Asked by: RobK
According to the manual the Bluetooth compatibility supports A2DP and AVRCP.
