Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great, when it worksI like the amp when it works. I use it daily, but every morning it does not want to connect or play music until it seemly warms up. Initial link with Bluetooth appears to be very slow and requires some fiddling around to get it to work. I'm currently using the RCA inputs and it as well takes a while before it starts playing music.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best amp for any speakersThis little amp surprised me. Below half volume it is very loud (even at 8 ohms), past half is a distorted mess especially with electronic dance music. Best amp for tinkerers that want 2 speakers powered with the option for bluetooth. Highs are bright and the bass is tight and profound. I am upgrading a vintage turntable cabinet and this is the muscle behind that project.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Caution, killed my Gallaxy S5. Otherwise happy....This is a very impressive tiny ultra-efficient amplifier which truly pushes about 60 watts RMS into 8ohms. I've compared to my Carver, Yamaha, and Onkyo amps and the output is truly impressive. I would describe the tonality of this amp as very bright. By brightness, I intend to suggest that it is not warm or mellow but is very dynamic, and precise (such as the difference between nickle-plated guitar strings and standard steel strings). This is not a criticism as it really does sound very full and strong/dynamic.However, I'm not sure about integrity of the pre-amp circuitry and necessary filtering/isolation because I connected my Samsung S5 via 1/8" stereo port to RCA and my phone's audio circuit was damaged after a couple hours. I did have the volume all the way up, so maybe there is an impedance issues on the pre-amp inputs and perhaps I drew too much current?? Anyhow, be careful what you connect to this amplifier and I recommend not driving your connected device at full volume....The power supply on this amp is actually some 36v 4.5 amp charger repurposed for this application. It seems very cheap in the same way that a cheap laptop power supply is extremely light (and often fails in short order). Time will tell.... Also, it's very hard to find compact 5amp 36v switching power supplies...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great little amp but...I bought my first one about 2 months ago and it failed after just sitting and going to play it again, Nothing! PE was great and replaced the unit. After many tests. There is no way 100 watts is being delivered. Very clear sound then suddenly and drastically it distorts and the sound breaks down.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does not pair multiple connectionsA nice little stereo but I can not pair more than 1 device without deleting the connection of another. The 2 page manual reads from "Paired Devices" list select "HiFi". To me that means more than one device. In my house we have 4 different devices that need to be connected but only 1 can be connected.

Lepai LP7498E 200W Class D Amplifier with Bluetooth and Power Supply

Could i use this in a car? Is there a way to use the power supply normally used for the car stereo for it? Also - Is there some sort of harness that would allow me to plug in the cars speakers? My stock car radio is dead and i want to use my i phone.

Asked by: Heilakka
This would not do well in that application, It requires 18-36 volts for the power supply and a vehicle is much lower.

Can this be fed directly from an integrated headphone amp in a mobile phone, sound card, mp3 player, etc? Is the sensitivity of the input high enough and what is the impedance and should there be any problems?

Asked by: JoelGrant

Can I Power this with a 12v battery?

Asked by: medson
No, the minimum recommended voltage for this amplifier is 18 volts.

I am trying to build a cost effective wireless PA system. Will a blue tooth microphone meant for a phone pair up to this amplifier and amplify live audio, voice? Say I want to use a Plantronics Voyager Pro HD mic 20 ft from amp at most.

Asked by: Dean Seeger
This amplifier is designed to work with a PC, smartphone, tablet, or other mobile device providing a 2-channel Bluetooth audio connection. It is not designed to function with a bluetooth headset microphone or a Bluetooth-enabled wireless microphone handset as a PA amplifier. Other products exist for this purpose.

Is it better to leave this little amp ON whenever my computer is on, or to switch it on only when I want to use it, then turn it off?  IOW, does frequent current surge wear out components?  Thanks.

Asked by: Westcoast
Since this amplifier is so efficient it will not affect anything if left on, although turning it on and off will not have any negative effects on the amplifier either.

Do I need a Phono preamp to use this with my Dual 601 TT and AR-14 speakers which have an SPL of 86dB/W/m? What about a Pre with tone controls? I'm not sure if the Marantz 5005 would be better for me or not. I do like the price of this unit.

Asked by: MTB56
I cannot find too much info about the Dual turntable but it appears to only have a phono output which will require a phono preamp. You do not need a dedicated preamp for this Lepai unless you want the addition of tone controls. Unfortunately we do not really have anything to offer for this application, but we do offer many phono preamps.
