Lepai LP7498E 200W Class D Amplifier with Bluetooth and Power Supply
Lepai LP7498E 200W Class D Amplifier with Bluetooth and Power Supply is rated 4.0962 out of 5 by 52.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome, but could be betterJust received the amp from PE, and am very impressed. Can't comment on the sound quality because my source has been mostly digital stuff over the Bluetooth, which works flawlessly. Range is great, super easy to use, but the amp has two critical drawbacks. First, the binding posts are tiny. They are spaced so that a banana plug will only fit into the positives or negatives, rather than one channel. (The spacing is too tight to allow the plug to be used to connect one channel)Second, I really wish this had a line out. Even if it was a 1/8" minijack. Just some way to get the signal from Bluetooth to a sub.Other than that, it's awesome.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works very well for this applicationI bought this to keep outside (protected) with a pair of the TIC outdoor speakers and it works very well. Paired with Airport Express and my iPhone, I can pump music out around the pool. Actually have to keep the system turned down a little because the neighbors 3-4 houses down can hear it. Pool stereo system with great sound all done for UNDER $400 total. Plenty of Amp for those speakers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, but not quite great. This amp has been my shop background music amp and speaker/crossover testing amp for about a year now.It was extremely easy to setup out of the box, taking no time at all. I have been very impressed with the sound quality, wired especially, but also with the Bluetooth. It has power to spare, running my old tower speakers that have a 10" woofer with plenty of control and damping. My complaints are that the binding posts are pretty close together and if you aren't using banana plugs it can be difficult to wire. And it doesn't seem to like the cold. When it's below 45F (I'm guessing) it stays on for about 20 min before making sound. I'm sure it says that somewhere in the literature. On the other hand, I used this amp relentlessly in direct sunlight in summer in Memphis. Even when the amp was too hot to touch (the power supply especially) it kept on going. I was pretty impressed with that.It does have a nice metal faceplate, however, they skimped out on the volume knob. The knob cover is plastic and is not installed perfectly so about halfway up it begins to rub against the faceplate - which completely cheapens the otherwise nice look. All said and done, it's a good value. I would like to see some other housing options. Maybe a PCB version or some mounting tabs? As it is, it doesn't lend itself well to project integration.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great!Simple amplifier solution for listening to your smartphone, ipod or other Bluetooth mp3 player with a standard pair of speakers.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great, when it worksI like the amp when it works. I use it daily, but every morning it does not want to connect or play music until it seemly warms up. Initial link with Bluetooth appears to be very slow and requires some fiddling around to get it to work. I'm currently using the RCA inputs and it as well takes a while before it starts playing music.

Lepai LP7498E 200W Class D Amplifier with Bluetooth and Power Supply

I have a Klipsch KMC 3 bluetooth ac powered speaker. I wanted to add the Lepai 200 watt amp. Is that possible? I believe my KMC 3 is a 130 watt speaker, so am I wasting my money?

Asked by: JazzyJeff
If the speakers are already powered there is no way to connect an amplifier to them since they already have one built in.

I am rebuilding a vintage amplifier (all tubes) that powers a set of low wattage vintage speakers. I'd like to be able to play my iPhone, Android, etc through this amplifier. Is this the appropriate device for plug & play, or is there a better option?

Asked by: Craigo
Hi Craigo,This would not be my choice for your application.  And the best recommendation really needs some more info about your tube amp.   For example, does it have a set of line level inputs for, say, a tuner or tape player.   If so, then a simple cable or bluetooth receiver attached to that input is your best bet.   If you cannot or do not want to touch the electronics, and it does not have any inputs, but it does have FM, then consider a FM modulator.  These are typically under the automotive section, but you might be surprised.   Lastly, you can modify the input stage to the amp to accept another input.  At or about the point where you would switch between radio and records, (after the record player pre-amp), there would be a good place to wire in an Aux input.   Not knowing what type of switch and circuit you have I dare not say more.  8-)    Lastly, if you do have inputs, watch out for a typical difference between a tape input and a tape-head input.   The latter has an additional pre-amp in most tube systems and you might need to either keep the volume really low, or use a voltage divider to make the volume control work reasonable.Best of luck - I love working on tube systems, both radios and guitar amps.

Can i use my appletv with this amp?

Asked by: Conmull
Yes, if....ATV's have two methods of output for audio - optical and HDMI. If you purchase an inexpensive D/A converter (digital-to-analog), you can make it work. Be sure the converter has an optical audio input. Not sure how easy it would be to convert HDMI to analog.

Asked by: tom1945
Yes you can add a DAC to this amplifier. It will be wired between the amp and your music source, unfortunately I cannot recommend a specific DAC for this application.

Could i use this in a car? Is there a way to use the power supply normally used for the car stereo for it? Also - Is there some sort of harness that would allow me to plug in the cars speakers? My stock car radio is dead and i want to use my i phone.

Asked by: Heilakka
This would not do well in that application, It requires 18-36 volts for the power supply and a vehicle is much lower.
