Use this 5.91" (150 mm) LED lighting strip extension cable with two LED segment splices, from Lavolta, for making your own custom length LED lighting strip. Route your lighting strip segments around corners, under door gaps, and in minimum clearance areas due to the connection cable's 1.5 mm high by 6 mm wide size. Originally designed for use with indoor RGB LED strip lighting (without the IP65 resin drip coating) for a solder-free connection, this splice can be used with flexible IP65-rated LED strip lighting with the use of solder. A clam-shell cover provides protection against accidental shorting. Sold in bags of 5.
Instructions for use with coated, IP65-rated RGB LED strips:1) Remove about 1/4" of the resin drip coating from the end that is to be inserted into the splice, exposing the four solder pads2) Place a very small amount of solder on each pad (just enough to color the pad silver, 0.031" thickness solder is recommended)3) Insert the exposed portion of the strip into the splice, two retaining clips holds the strip in place4) Heat tabs directly over the solder pads while pressing down5) Close clamshell cover, repeat steps with opposite side, cover and seal with heat shrink (18 mm heat shrink with adhesive is recommended)
Note: When directly connecting multiple LED strips together using this 4-pin male-to-male connector, it is important not to exceed a total series length of 33 feet. Doing so can damage some controllers, power supplies, and cause resistors within the LED lighting strip to overheat, creating a color difference between strips.
