Lanzar MAX12D 12" Subwoofer Dual VC
How do you wire it up with dual voice coils?
That depends on your amplifier. If it has two outputs you can wire one coil on the sub to each of the outputs. If connecting to one amp output then you have some choices. It usually best to connect in series which means connecting the positive from one coil to the negative of the other and then connecting the remain two to the amp. How would this hold up with a 4 channel 1600 w amp?
Should I get an amp with more juice, less juice, or just stay where I'm at for wattage?
An amplifier that has a true CEA certified 1600 watt output will require at least 0 gauge power and ground wire to provide the high current flow to its MOSFET and capacitor sections. 0 gauge wire is extremely thick(see image). If your amplifier does not meet this requirement it is doubtful it's output is a true usable 1600 watts. As always I recommend staying on the RMS side of power input which is 500 watts for the Lanzar.

What is the smallest vented box you could use for this sub and still have it sound good?
I would recommend no less than 1.75 cubic feet with a 2" high, 6" wide and 12" long slot port. This will tune the box for 36 Hz.
