Lanzar MAX12D 12" Subwoofer Dual VC
Lanzar MAX12D 12" Subwoofer Dual VC is rated 4.3333 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Right on the Money!I have purchased many subs and built many enclosures over the years. For the price I was a bit skeptical. I built a sealed box for these per the specs on the Parts Express website and I'm quite impressed! The performance is excellent. The bass is deep and tight. I would have never thought such response could come from such a small sealed enclosure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from unbeatable valueInstalled a dual-coil Lanzar 10' and two 8's in a two seat 95' Dakota in the 90's for a friend and they performed superbly. I decided recently, after price comparrisons on web sites and local stores to buy one for my 00' Dakota Ext Cab. I had to show people the speaker to proove there was only one there. Purchased a second just to see wat would happen. Wooooooow... Unspeakable solid power, volume and reliability for the price.... I have run em' no-stop for 14-16 hrs without a single fualt..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works very wellThis unit functions well in a sealed box that is designed to the specifications of this woofer. It will handle plenty of power and works well in small enclosures. It also runs for long periods of time at a fairly high volume level. One is usually all you would need. I recommend this since I have used several of these before on many different occasions and customer installs, but I am partial to single coil woofers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from awesome subs for the price, 1st but not last Lanzar purchaseI have 6 of these subs running off 3 Hifonics BRZ2400 amps; one amp per 2 subs in a ~7.5 cu ft. box under the rear seat of my boatthese subs are "low priced" not "cheap" and sound better than subs costing a lot more, my buddy has 6, $500 Soundstream subs powered by 3, $800 Alpine amps, he was PO'ed when he couldn't tell much if any difference between his $5,400+ subs/amps and my $1,800 subs/amps set up, BTW we have the same model of boatunless your building a high end system save some money, get this sub, put it in a solid sealed box, feed it clean power and you should be happy

Lanzar MAX12D 12" Subwoofer Dual VC

What is the smallest vented box you could use for this sub and still have it sound good?

Asked by: Buller6497
I would recommend no less than 1.75 cubic feet with a 2" high, 6" wide and 12" long slot port. This will tune the box for 36 Hz.

How would this hold up with a 4 channel 1600 w amp?

Should I get an amp with more juice, less juice, or just stay where I'm at for wattage?
Asked by: Hansent
An amplifier that has a true CEA certified 1600 watt output will require at least 0 gauge power and ground wire to provide the high current flow to its MOSFET and capacitor sections. 0 gauge wire is extremely thick(see image). If your amplifier does not meet this requirement it is doubtful it's output is a true usable 1600 watts. As always I recommend staying on the RMS side of power input which is 500 watts for the Lanzar.

How do you wire it up with dual voice coils?

Asked by: R.J. Maurer
That depends on your amplifier. If it has two outputs you can wire one coil on the sub to each of the outputs. If connecting to one amp output then you have some choices. It usually best to connect in series which means connecting the positive from one coil to the negative of the other and then connecting the remain two to the amp. See below for diagrams and options.
