Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still great after all these years!I have nothing bad to say about these subs. They have won so many audio competitions over the years. A high Xmax of 10mm & a rating of 92 dB equals excellent bass output without needing alot of power to push them loud. They have foam surrounds instead of rubber but that doesn't reduce the performance one bit. The price to performance ratio is excellent & is so worth there cost. I used one of these subs to build a custom powered subwoofer in a home theater settup with a 250 watt plate amp & the bass output is most excellent. I recommend this sub to anyone for car audio or for home use. Just try to find a sub at this price point that will produce this level of performance. Buy these with confidence knowing it is a great deal & has excellent bass output. Well worth there cost hands down.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from One note rattle! This thing rattles, the leads, the spider, the cone the surround, in a box or out anywhere and everywhere it rattles! It also only hits one note maybe around 45hz, you'll never hear an organ or bass guitar from this speaker. If you don't care about anything other than making noise then get this speaker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great subUsed this sub to replace an old powered acoustic research 12". Sounds much much better than the one I took out. Kind of wish I had a bigger amp running it now. Great replacement though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AwesomeThis thing does rattle anything that is loose in your vehicle. For the price this thing is amazing, I actually outfitted my car with all Lanzar drivers. The door speakers are good, but this thing rounds out the sound so nicely. I am only running 200 watts into even though it says 500 rms, and this moves air. At decent gain levels there is no peaking or distortion at all, just nice clean even bass. I'm sure for more $$ you could go for a driver that sucks the air out of your car, but this thing is a beast for personal listening, can feel it in your chest for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great SubIts a great cheap sub. When I first installed it, my car had no rattles at all. Now 6 months in, and I have panels all over the car that have vibrated loose. I have it mounted in a custom box in a Pontiac Fiero, so ya I have a tiny cabin, running a 4500w Peak, 2200w rms amp. (Amp actually only makes about 1600w real power though) I can run this sub to the wall and it just keeps coming back for more. It has not melted down under the sub test files I have. Nice good clean bass. I don't think there is a sub on the planet than be had for cheaper that sounds this good. If you don't have a lot of cash, I can't recommend this sub enough. Heck even if you do have a lot of cash, buy this sub and spend your extra money on a bigger amp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lanzar MAX12 12" Subwoofer 4 OhmI couldn't be more happy with this driver!I built a 'self-powered' sub-woofer enclosure for my home theater (Used a Yung 300 watt plate amp) and the results were (For the price) astounding. The driver can handle everything I throw at it. No break-up, no bottoming-out, no distortion, just clean rock-solid low frequencies! And as other have written, this driver is meant for a smallish SEALED enclosure. (SEALED!)I'm sure there are much better subs out there, but for the $$, there is NO WAY you can go wrong with this!

Lanzar MAX12 12" Subwoofer 4 Ohm

I bought this sub to put in a Goldwood single 12" slot port subwoofer box for a home theater powered sub. I want to tune the box to 30Hz, how much should I reduce the port size? Is a 5" slot port about right to get down to 30Hz & will it produce chuffing?

Asked by: Pain for Fun
I would recommend cutting the width of the port to 4" overall which will drop the tuning frequency to 30 Hz. This should not have any port noise issues.

Optimal ported enclosure size for a pair these

I would like to get a pair of these and build an enclosure for them to go into. What would be the size (cubic feet) of a ported enclosure that 2 of the Lanzar MAX12 would sound best in? A big box is fine with me (what size port/tube)?thanks for the help
Asked by: deepaudiophile
Running these through BassBox6Pro, I come up with a 4.3 cu. ft. enclosure, 4" diameter port, 3" in length. This will give you an F3 of 45hz. Lanzar does not provide enough data to fully maximize the speaker enclosure, but the above specs should work well.
