Lanzar MAX12 12" Subwoofer 4 Ohm
Lanzar MAX12 12" Subwoofer 4 Ohm is rated 4.76 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great SubIts a great cheap sub. When I first installed it, my car had no rattles at all. Now 6 months in, and I have panels all over the car that have vibrated loose. I have it mounted in a custom box in a Pontiac Fiero, so ya I have a tiny cabin, running a 4500w Peak, 2200w rms amp. (Amp actually only makes about 1600w real power though) I can run this sub to the wall and it just keeps coming back for more. It has not melted down under the sub test files I have. Nice good clean bass. I don't think there is a sub on the planet than be had for cheaper that sounds this good. If you don't have a lot of cash, I can't recommend this sub enough. Heck even if you do have a lot of cash, buy this sub and spend your extra money on a bigger amp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lanzar MAX12 12" Subwoofer 4 OhmI couldn't be more happy with this driver!I built a 'self-powered' sub-woofer enclosure for my home theater (Used a Yung 300 watt plate amp) and the results were (For the price) astounding. The driver can handle everything I throw at it. No break-up, no bottoming-out, no distortion, just clean rock-solid low frequencies! And as other have written, this driver is meant for a smallish SEALED enclosure. (SEALED!)I'm sure there are much better subs out there, but for the $$, there is NO WAY you can go wrong with this!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from hard hittingi have two of these in a bandpass box in my eagle talon with a boss 2000 watt amp and they slam harder than my cousins pioneer premiers in his Cadillac definitely recommend these

Rated 4 out of 5 by from very loud, not as 'rugged' as description statesi was extremely excited when i replaced my old earthquake DBXIs with these subs due to the lanzars being loud and similar sound quality. However, after breaking them in for a few days i really began to punish them and after about 5 minutes i got the melting voice coil smell. Maybe it is my fault but i figured replacing a 500 watt rms 12 with a 500 watt rms 12 would not involve turning down volume or gain. the subs still sound good and are not blown but i will not push them to that extreme again. BTW i am powering two of them with 2 500 watt rms earthquake powerhouse amps.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Solid SubI purchased this speaker to replace my old 12" in my 2.5 Cu.Ft. sealed box, and it is very tight and punchy. Only pushing 60/200w to it, and I am very impressed with its capabilities. I also bridged the amp to 200/400w, but that was too much bass for my liking. Very solid product. Moves alot of air :)

Lanzar MAX12 12" Subwoofer 4 Ohm

Optimal ported enclosure size for a pair these

I would like to get a pair of these and build an enclosure for them to go into. What would be the size (cubic feet) of a ported enclosure that 2 of the Lanzar MAX12 would sound best in? A big box is fine with me (what size port/tube)?thanks for the help
Asked by: deepaudiophile
I have owned 6 of these and I can honestly say that they do NOT like ported boxes. Go with about 1.5 cu ft each sealed or even a little smaller. I have tried them in 2 cu ft each as well as 4 cu ft each with a port and one very large slot ported enclosure and they just don't perform well in any of the above. I have modeled them in box programs as well and nothing really lines up well with a port. You can go with a small box with a big port, but you will be tuning the driver mainly for SPL and the sound quality will be very poor.
