Knock-Down MDF 1.16 cu. ft. Tower Speaker Cabinet

CNC knock-down cabinets make it easy for the beginner to end up with amazing finished results without all of the time and effort necessary to perfect your woodworking skills, perfect for DIYers without expensive tools or access to a woodshop.

During the CNC process, dadoes are cut into the top, bottom, and rear panels to ensure a tight, secure fit that maximizes the gluing surface and making assembly that much easier. This tower cabinet allows you to create your very own front left or right tower speaker... or even a large format center channel speaker! Three included window braces add structural integrity while consuming as little internal volume as possible.

Additionally, users can mount side-firing a woofer (up to 8" maximum is recommended) for a modern 3-way design. The end result is a speaker cabinet that assembles in no time flat—all you need are wood clamps, wood glue, and about five minutes; no screws needed.

Note: Panel dimensions and a 3D SketchUp model are included in the Manuals/Resources section. To open and use the 3D model, you need to download and install a program to unzip the file (7-Zip is free and recommended) and then download and install SketchUp to open the .skp file.

Specifications: • Panel thickness: 3/4" • Panel material: Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) • Finished cabinet volume: 1.16 cubic feet • External dimensions: 34" H x 8" W x 11" D • Internal dimensions: 32-1/2" H x 6-1/2" W x 9-1/2" D • Made in the U.S.A. • Sold individually.

Knock-Down MDF 1.16 cu. ft. Tower Speaker Cabinet
Knock-Down MDF 1.16 cu. ft. Tower Speaker Cabinet is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from About what I expectedI found these cabinets easy to assemble. I used the rear panel to hold the braces in place while I applied glue to the side panels. I'll finish gluing on the rear and front panels after I drill vent hole and apply my finish to the front baffle.I didn't have to use a mallet but clamps help to hold things in place while the glue sets up. I used plain yellow wood glue.

access for crossover maintenance

I'm wondering how to provide access to the crossover when using this cabinet without making a mess. I'm looking to avoid exposed screws. Can the bottom be secured effectively on all four sides using pocket screws?
Asked by: aespen
Enclosure rigidity is among the most important aspects of enclosure construction, so I caution against using removable walls (or bottoms) and I recommend keeping all 6 sides rigidly screwed and glued. I also offer these suggestions: 1.) Leave your crossover outside of the enclosure while developing/adjusting your crossover. This practice is made simple by using one of the Bi-wire Terminal Cups, with one terminal set temporarily connected to the tweeter and the other terminal set temporarily connected to the bass drivers. After completion of your crossover, you can mount it inside for better aesthetics. 2. Mount the completed/tested crossover on the enclosure back wall directly behind your largest drivers; this practice typically leaves sufficient access for removing the crossover for maintenance or change (that may never actually be required). 3. another method is to use a terminal cup that is sufficiently large to allow access to the internally-mounted crossover--or even making your own terminal plate by simply cutting a larger terminal cutout and making a MDF cover plate for your terminals or terminal cup.Cheers

Judging from the dimensions, is it safe to say that this cabinet is to small for a 10 inch woofer, or would mounting it on the 11 inch depth side

inhibit performance, or mounting on top or bottom of box .300-7066 : Knock-Down MDF 1.16 ft³ Tower Speaker CabinetRoll over image to zoomClick to see larger300-7066300-7066Knock-Down MDF 1.16 ft³ Tower Speaker Cabinet

Yes you would be able to install a 10" woofer in the "side" of the enclosure.
