JBL 2242H 18" Maximum Output LF Driver 8 Ohm
WHAT WOULD OPTIMUM SMALLEST SEALED ENCLOSURE BE
IF I WERE TO MOUNT A PAIR OF THESE JBL 2242H 18" Maximum Output LF Driver 8 Ohm, Brand: JBL Model: 2242H, BACK TO BACK LIKE THE Dayton RS1202A 1000 Watt Dual 12" Subwoofer System Assembled Brand: Dayton Audio Model: RS1202A, IN A SEALED CABINET, STUFFED WITH Acousta-Stuf Polyfill, WHAT WOULD THE OPTIMUM INTERNAL VOLUME BE IN ORDER TO YIELD THE DEEPEST HOME THEATER EFFECTS FOR MOVIES & WHAT WOULD THAT FREQUENCY BE?
This particular driver is not optimized for sealed alignments, nor is it geared toward home audio use. For one driver, the manufacturer suggests a ported enclosure of 5-12ft³, tuned to 30Hz or so. With two drivers in the 5.0ft³ enclosure, you would need 2 ports 6" in diameter, each about 27" in length to achieve that 30Hz tuning frequency. This will yield an F3 frequency of approximately 82Hz. As you can see, this is probably not the best choice for low frequency effects in a home theater application. For a small sealed application, you might consider TC Sounds subwoofers. I've linked a popular choice below for your convenience.
