JBL 2206H 12" High-Power LF Driver

The 2206H 12" low frequency transducer represents the results of JBL's latest engineering research in high power transducer design. For increased power handling while reducing power compression, a unique direct voice coil-to-air heat dissipation method called Vented Gap Cooling has been used. This process pumps air through the magnetic gap and directly over and around the voice coil to provide immediate heat transfer and reduction in operating temperature. Through the use of new computer-aided magnet optimization and analysis techniques comes a new weight-optimized Symmetrical Field Geometry (SFG) magnet structure, resulting in a reduction of overall driver weight and a significant reduction in harmonic distortion. This new magnet structure offers much of the weight advantage of rare earth magnet structures without their prohibitive cost.

JBL 2206H 12" High-Power LF Driver
JBL 2206H 12" High-Power LF Driver is rated 4.75 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for today's Low tuning guitaristsYes... I am aware that this is a different speaker than Hendrix used. But Hendrix did not typically tune down the way many modern metal-heads do. When we have a customer that complains he isn't getting the low-end thump he wants, we have him play a little for us with his rig and his guitar. Sometimes, if he is a good customer, we might go out to his gig and seem what he does.I stand by what I said... This is a great replacement speaker for today's metal-maniacs, especially the low-tuning guys. These guitarist torture their speakers by playing square-wave distortion at ear-blistering volume. To make matters worse, they drop-tune their guitars well into the Bass range. Only low-woofers with high power-handling can take that abuse. But thanks for clearing up any confusion I may have caused...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fine speakersYes JBL speakers are indeed top of the line. As a full time performer for 42 years I can vouch for that. I've been using them since 1966 on the road and everyplace else in various configurations (2x12,4x12 mostly). However the first reviewer has his models mixed up. This is a WOOFER not a full range speaker. The model he is referring to as used by Hendrix was the D120 series not these. They were the holy grail of gtr spkrs back then and I used them for decades. Make sure you know which is which, these are meant to be used for a low or low mid purpose. The D120 had a metal dome and was not a woofer but a full range instrument speaker. The cone stiffness/thickness was different too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Go Pro... save money by buying the good stuff!Speaker design CAN be a complicated affair, especially when trying to design around the inadequacies of cheap components. You will save money and a LOT of hassle by getting the good stuff first. It is always less expensive in the long run to use good speakers. No where is this more evident than with JBL speakers. The sensitivity, the power handling and smooth response of these beauties makes them a fine addition to pro-sound applications. However, do not overlook them as a replacement for guitar cabinets. Put this speaker, (or preferably four of them) into a well-built cabinet with plenty of air space. They DO NOT need a baffle or a port. You will be AMAZED! The difference is night and day. Reliability I have used JBL speakers over thirty years for pro studio recording and touring. Despite awful abuse, I ve NEVER had a failure. That s saying a lot considering what guitarists do to their equipment! Forget other manufacturer s claims about specially designed for Metal use these instead. It s like taking the blanket off your guitar cabinet! Replace all four of your greenback garbage cans with real speakers like these. You will think that in the past your cabinet was facing backwards! Power handling In a 4/12 guitar cab, these things can inflict pain at forty yards. They don t even flinch at 150 watts. Replace all four speakers with these? oh yeah! Prepare to have a fist fight with your sound guy. He s a geeky wimp anyway! Be sure to evacuate your bowels before you ROCK! Sound quality They always behave sweet and musical, but back that up with massive muscle and authoritAH! Hendrix used em. Need I say more? Price? Cheap considering you are buying an American made product; Even cheaper when you finally figure out that you save money because they refuse to die. Try even one of these in your guitar cab. Other speakers run away like Chihuahuas, while the JBLs bark like BIG dogs and beg for more. Woof! Woof! Get em!

JBL 2206H 12" High-Power LF Driver

Can you suggest a JBL 10" driver woofer to put into my JBL L50 bookshelf speaker cabinet (original 1970s). The original woofers are no good and I would like to replace them with JBL speakers.

Asked by: John 59
Unfortunately we do not have any 10" JBL brand drivers available. If your original woofers are still functional but have damaged cones or surrounds, you might want to consider getting those repaired.

Asked by: Johnski
No, the L50 needs a 10" driver.

Hi, would JBL 2206H be a good substitute for JBL 120H? I have 2x 500W amp to power them for home HiFi purposes. Many thx for any advice!

Asked by: PLF1962
These are two different woofers designed with two different applications in mind. The box volumes and tuning will help determine whether it will work, but there are other factors involved as well. If you have the original 120H woofers, you may want to consider getting them repaired instead.

I am trying to replace the woofers in my JBL Jubels... a 12'' woofer - 126 A. I would like to find a kit to have these re built, voice coil is frozen. If you do not have 126A replacement kits what 12'' woofers would you recommend. I am looking for quality

Asked by: jk123
This might be a good option. The main thing to check would be the actual driver dimensions. There is some variation on speaker frames so the outside diameter and cutout is important
