HiVi SP10 10" Subwoofer

"The 10 that thinks it's a 12!!" The SP10 is one of the most massive 10" subwoofers available today. Weighing in at over 28 lbs. it is a true heavyweight. The SP10 has been optimized for accurate low frequency reproduction in a small sealed enclosure of only .6 cubic ft. producing an f3 around 43 Hz. However, it is also well suited for medium-sized vented enclosure or free-air applications. Small optimum enclosure sizes, 3" voice coil, and 15.5 mm of Xmax, together make this a great subwoofer for home or automotive applications. The SP10 utilizes patented Symmetric Motor Drive (SMD) technology which reduces voice coil inductance and back EMF creating a more dynamic driver with a wider frequency range. Features full roll neoprene surround, flat non-pressed paper cone, and an aluminum cast frame. So, if you dare, jump into the ring with a true heavyweight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sunfire TrueSub II replacement DriverI have a 12 year plus Sunfire True Sub II. The main driver rubber surround was ripped almost half way. I ordered the HiVi Sp10. It arrived in a super box that protected it. You have to see the box to believe it. It comes with a replacement gasket that has sticky stuff on one side after you peel the protectent off. The bolt holes line up perfect. The driver is a perfect match physically. Took me like half hour to do the remove and replace of the old one. I think its been a while since I have heard or felt a real sub because this HiVi rocked my theater room. Ill post a follow up in 6 months. Im 55 and if i can do this anyone can. Seams like ever 6 years my sub needs something but the way it shakes I cant blame it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replacement Driver for Sunfire Subwoofer Mark IIThis is the 10" sub you need when your sunfire mk II driver fails; for some reason my kids are quite adept -- go figure ;-)It's got lots of low-end punch, and competes nicely with other much larger woofers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SMALL AND FEROCIOUSJust built a Transmission Line 60" sub cabinet with this driver for a 370 Z Car. 15.375" X 10.375" X 31.00". Custom fitted. I have a 3000 square foot shop with 900 square ft office space inside. With only 300 watts or so it shakes the walls in the offices 15 feet away... The best 10 inch sub so far. Clean notes too. Impressive Driver!! Get it while it's on sale!!!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great sound! Wish they would last longer.I originally bought one of these to replace the woofer in my sunfire true sub. Great replacement worked perfect for two months and froze up. It was under warranty and Parts Express took care of me. I received the new one and have had it for two years and three weeks ago it started making all kinds or rattling noises.. Its toast! I've had all kinds of subs over the years and have ran them a lot harder(when I was young) with no problem. If you get one you will love the sound. I hope it lasts longer for you.

HiVi SP10 10" Subwoofer

Would mounting this speaker on 3/4" MDF be ok, or do you recommend a thicker baffle?

Asked by: SterlingCalhoun
3/4" MDF should be adequate if the baffle is small and the cutout is not to far from any sides or if braced, but mdf is cheap so double it up and flush mount this beast.

How would this perform in a 1.2ft^3 sealed enclosure with a 500 watt amp @ 4 ohms?

Asked by: Inquiring Mind
1.2 cuft is actually a little on the large side for this woofer but it still models well with a projected in room response into the mid 20's. With 500 watts and no EQ there are no excursion problems.

I own the SPA250 amp. Will it drive this speaker OK or will I burn out my amp?

Asked by: McCool
That will be enough to drive it although this subwoofer will really shine with about 500 watts on tap.

How would this do in a sealed .65 cft truck box?

Asked by: Brandon
This subwoofer works very well in small sealed enclosures, but double check the cutout of the cabinet and mounting depth of your cabinet and compare it to the B and C dimensions within the specifications of this subwoofer to ensure a proper fit.

can i paint the speaker to match the b4n i got from u guys

Asked by: frank
I'm assuming or rather hoping you mean paint the speaker box? I would never paint an actual speaker. Paint would mess up the sound and probably shorten the life of the speaker by many years. So my advice would strongly be not to paint it.

what box do you think would be good for home theather and how would i wire it to a 8 ohm system

Asked by: cheecheman
This woofer works very well in 0.8 cubic feet sealed with about 500 watts of power. This is designed to be wired to a subwoofer amplifier, not directly to a receiver.
