HiVi F6 6" Bass/Midrange

The HiVi F6 has been optimized for dynamic bass reproduction in small or medium vented systems. Midrange clarity and tonal balance are remarkable. The F6 utilizes a newly developed matrix of Kevlar and paper fibers, and the cone weighs less, is more rigid, and has an improved damping factor. The back of the cone is hand coated with a special damping compound to further maximize performance stability and control of structural resonances. The driver features a central phase plug to avoid air compression and internal air volume resonance, and the plug improves frequency response and dispersion as well. An aluminum former voice coil and spider contribute to the driver's linear operation at high power levels. The massive aluminum die-cast basket has been developed to minimize structural resonances, and the shielded magnet structure allows the F6 to be incorporated into audio/video applications. It may be used in a small vented or closed box when a subwoofer is employed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound roll off and excellant vocalsI was checking this F6s looking to impove my 5 inch mids to a bigger size for more midbass kick and something sweet to the ears. I use the F6 in my KLHs 1590 4-ways while adding the bigger mids I installed a set of dayton 3-ways along with them. Once installed they sound amazing with my SRS Ak-100 3D sound processor just great sound roll off and great definition in sound with mids and midbass kick with drums. Great buy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I was hesitant to get this woofer...Looking at the specs sheet on this woofer gave me pause, but I decided to go ahead and attempt to build a set of speakers around it. I ended up mating it with a Morel MTD-29 tweeter and am very happy with the results. I'm not sure the pricing on this woofer is justified, but if you can get in on sale it would be a great deal.I'm using an active crossover, and still haven't decided where I'm going to leave it, but I can assure you that you will not be able to cross this over above 3Khz, and most likely you'll want to go below 2400.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from At first I was like... But then!At first I was not impressed but after a few weeks of semi heavy listening, they broke in. I was amazed! Such rich, warm sound! I used it in a 3 way setup using a Dayton 3 way crossover XO3W-375/3K pared up with a HiVi DMN-A Soft Dome Fabric Midrange and HiVi Q1R 1-1/8" Textile Dome Tweeter. With some slight modding... Put them in here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent wooferI have these in vented bookshelf speakers, with the manufacturer recommended .5 cubic feet. They sound great! Much more transparent and detailed than my old speakers, which used cheaper parts. They really show their ability with voice, but everything sounds great.Bass is good. If you are using them without a sub I recommend making the port front facing. If you do not listen to electronic music or movies, you will not need a sub.Overall, these are the perfect drivers for a medium sized bookshelf set. They have great clarity all the way from the bass to the high mids, which makes it easier to find a matching tweeter. Mine are crossed at 2.5k

Rated 5 out of 5 by from more than I expected!!!!I will start by saying the power handling on this woofer seems to be much higher than hivi claims it to be....these little guys have surprisingly deep punchy bass that is not at all muddy...sound is very natural and detailed...vocals are very impressive..sound great for any type of music...they accel in jazz/acoustic music, but then again what drivers dont considering that the nature of that type of music is normally extremely clean....I have these bad boys mated with the dayton Planars crossed over at 3khz, which sounds amazing by the way....thats probably the threshold of these drivers...I dont recommend crossing them any higher than that....I have a pair of Polk Audio LSI towers and I did a comparison of the two and the Lsi's sounded like they were behind a wall or something, compaired to my nice little project...keep in mind, the polks are $2400.00 per pair...I'm sure you can do the math

Rated 4 out of 5 by from very nice speakerI used this speaker in a two way design. I'm very pleased with it. It is clear, clean, and crisp. The speakers sound 10 times better than the Infinity towers they replaced! I wasn't looking for lots of bass since I have plenty from my subs, but these speakers do provide adequate bass in a vented enclosure.

HiVi F6 6" Bass/Midrange

Can you use this woofer in a open back baffle configuration that i am thinking of. For a near-field listening.

Asked by: seabary52
Yes you can, although the bass will start to roll off around 80 Hz so a sub might be required.

For a .53 ft3 cubic (center cabinet),  how is the size of the port tube (diameter x length)?  Thanks.  Anderson.

Asked by: diybrazil
I would recommend a 2" diameter, 5-1/2" long port tube for that application. This will tune the box to 48 Hz.

Asked by: Dallas JR
F3 in that volume will be 113 Hz with average stuffing. The shape will not matter.

i am planning to use 4 (qty.) HiVi F6 drivers in my vehicle.  What tweeter(s) would provide a nice compliment for them?  Placement options are A Pillar, top of doors, or possible in the dash as there is a 3-1/2" opening.

For a beautiful, full-bodied voice and guitar, which the liquid volume that I can be using with this driver? How would the internal measures of the box? It will be used in conjunction with a Dayton 15 subwoofer in another box (LT), with cut @ 80hz. Thank

Asked by: Anderson1701
I would recommend a volume of 0.53 cubic feet net, with a 2" diameter, 5" long port for a tuning frequency of 48 Hz. This would have internal dimensions of 14"H x 8"W x 8.5"D.

Would these be suitable for a car audio application? Specifically a replacement a woofer in a door mounted component system.

Asked by: joshw
most car systems use 4 ohm drivers ,mostly because 4 ohms pulls more power from the power amp . The response from these drivers is excellent, but weather protection, DOOR CLOSING CONCUSSION heating cooling factors, make these not car friendly. the subtle nuances will disappear from road noise ,that you hear in a well built home system. my recommendation use car type woofers and spend your money on good tweeters THE ON SALE AURI DRIVERS WILL PLEASE YOU AND LAST LONGER!
