HDMI Super Slim 2x4 True Matrix IR Compatible

Until now, sharing HDMI components between multiple rooms in the house was more expensive than the equipment you want to use! This super slim HDMI matrix has two inputs and four outputs. Connect your HDMI source devices, Blu-ray, DVD, cable and satellite receivers, and video games to the inputs; the outputs connect to the four displays.

Built-in signal compensation allows the matrix to be up to 20 meters from the source and 15 meters from the display (using 24 AWG cables). When used with the Easy IR Extender kit (sold separately), equipment can be controlled without installing additional wires. The Unique Backward-IR Channel allows you to control devices at the viewing location from the source equipment location with an additional Easy IR Extender kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Matrix!Works great and does exactly as described. The remote is very helpful so you don't have to get up to change the output. Would recommend.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not too bad for the price. The biggest issue with this switch is it needs to be "reset" quite often.. ESPECIALLY when using AppleTV. If you can deal with that, it isn't that bad of a piece. Will NOT use in a customer's house due to this issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does everything it promisesIt is a true matrix; on the input side, I have a standalone HD TV tuner and a U-verse box. On the output side, I have 2 tv's and 2 Yamaha receivers. (another TV is hooked up to one of my recievers). I am running 50 or 60 ft HDMI cable to that receiver. Audio and Video are synced perfectly among all devices and it makes for a very cool sportsbar/basement. Also construction is very solid - very well made.Especially for ~ $140 it is a great device. Cannot say enough good things about it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from so far great! No problem running a directv HR20 DVR thru this box splitting the signal to a panasonic and Samsung plasma. Ditto for blue ray player.HDMI cable length to one of the plasma's was 50 feet, no issues or loss. This is a well made box that functions as advertised. Number LED's and Blue Led lights on the box are quite bright so you'll want this tucked away out of view. Have not tried the remote control connects yet.

HDMI Super Slim 2x4 True Matrix IR Compatible

I just hooked up this unit and, for the first day, everything OK. Now, when I turn on another output TV the main TV blanks out for about 5 seconds and comes back on when the other TV establishes a picture. Any suggestions?

Asked by: trainpain
It sounds like the second TV has lower resolution capability than the primary TV.Unlike other signal transmission formats, HDMI is an active signal. The source device; DVD, Blu-ray, cable or satellite box, etc., reads the specifications of the display (TV) and sets itself to output the highest resolution the TV is capable of producing. When two TVs are connected to one source, as they would be with a matrix or an HDMI splitter, the source must reset itself to the highest common resolution. For example; if TV #1 is 1080p and TV #2 is 720p , the source device will set itself to 720p. The video on TV #1 will go black for a few seconds while the TV resets to 720p resolution.

I plan to mount this unit on a 17 inch wide rack shelf (inside dimension) along side another 7 inch wide component. Does the 10 7/8 inch dimension, that is listed for width, include the mounting flanges (ears) that are on the bottom of the unit?

Asked by: WhiskeyJ
The total width including the ears on this unit is 12-1/4".

Can the HDMI Super Slim 2x4 True Matrix be cascaded?

Asked by: groundnoiseindustries
Switchers can be configured with much imagination. The trick is to what degree. In broadcast - video is in the original uncompressed format. With this unit - if you don't go to crazy, you shouldn't suffer signal degradation. Too many splits and the signal will become weak.

How many RX cables can be used at one time?

Are there plugs for more than one RX cable to be plugged into the matrix switch? If more than one, are extra RX cables available separately?And/or if only one, can the unit be control by the CEC IR function of an HDMI cable at one of the for output fed HDTVs? Would this allow 2 ways to remotely control the unit? Can I buy additional remotes? Or do many learning remotes work by learning the remote's coded outputs?I don't have the device yet. I just ordered it.

Really, REALLY true matrix?

Can I switch input 1 to any combination of the 4 outputs, such as 1,2, and 4 and similarly could I then switch input 2 to output 3, etc.? I have found that some companies advertise matrix switchers that are not true matrix switchers. Also, does the switching have to be done via the remote?
Asked by: kbaybob
Yes, you are reading this correctly, this is a true 2 x 4 matrix; you can have a different input assigned to different outputs at the same time. The matrix can be controlled by either the remote or the buttons on the face.

Does it come with all the IR extender hardware?

The title says "with IR Extender" but the pictures do no show any extender hardware and the description indicates it may only be a capability, possibly requiring part 180-596 or something else. (180-596 says it is for the 4x2 not the 2x4 but I'm guessing it would work for both). Again, please tell me if the IR extender hardware come with part 180-630.
Asked by: Rico Suave
No this product does not come with the IR extender hardware. It is only IR extender compatible. I'm not sure how well this works either, I have not tried it.
