from Great Trannie for Lower Power Tube Amps!I have built three tube amps with this transformer (using 6L6, KT66 and 7591 tubes) and never had a problem. The only real thing to worry about is the height (4 1/2") The key is to pick out a trannie that puts out twice the current requirement of the output tubes, plus whatever the preamp tubes need. This way you will never have to worry about hum amd overheating, even when it's cranked all the up.

from As advertised yet slightly flawed...AT first glance these appear to be on par quality wise with other modern economy (not $300-400) tube transformers. At 85 percent of max output, this transformer doesn't overheat and the voltage is as advertised. The knockouts in the bell may bother some, but didn't bother me at all. In most respects this is a fine product. Except for one: it hums and it hums rather loudly. Vibrates the chassis in fact. I've read more online and found this is a common complaint of this line of transformers. You might want to consider the 300 series or another manufacturer. Ive built lots of tube amps and this is the first transformer (my first hammond too) that has made such noise. Works well, just annoying to hear that buzz between tracks or when the music dies down...
