Product Details

GRS PZ1142 Piezo Bullet Horn Driver Similar to KSN1142A

The PZ1142 is specifically designed and engineered to be a replacement for the very popular KSN1142A piezo tweeters from days gone by. Using a 22 mm ceramic piezo element, GRS piezo tweeters follow CTS' original recipe and are far superior to most look-alike piezos.

Standard 1-3/8" 18-TPI threads facilitate use with 1" horns. With a wide frequency range and ample power handling, this is also a prime candidate for new designs, especially if the crossover requirements must be kept to an absolute minimum.

Specifications: • Power handling: 400 watts max • Frequency response: 1,800-30,000 Hz • SPL: 92 dB 1W/1m • Dimensions: Diameter: 2-7/16", Depth: 1-1/2".

GRS PZ1142 Piezo Bullet Horn Driver Similar to KSN1142A
GRS PZ1142 Piezo Bullet Horn Driver Similar to KSN1142A is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy fix for a great sound at an excellent price !I used two GRS PZ1142 Piezo Bullet Horn Drivers to replace the original horn drivers in a pair of MTX TP112s , and with two Selenium ADF25-25 Horn Adapters that I modified by simply drilling 3 new holes to match the horns and they work great.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Emergency SpareBought this to replace a JBL 2414H-1 in an EON 10" speaker. Fit fine. Don't screw it in too tight or it with jump the threads. Won't strip them, it just won't allow being tightened past a certain point. Decent sound, but not very loud at all. Knew that when I bought it, though, looking at the sensitivity rating. Great for adding "sizzle" and clarity to vocals, cymbals, etc. However, would not recomend if you want to accentuate a hard-hitting acoustic guitar or snare drum. For the money, great as a spare part to have on hand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Crisp SoundCharmingly crisp sound, light weight as well. breathed new life into my old PAs. With a crossover and a small capacitor they sound crisp without being harsh.

GRS PZ1142 Piezo Bullet Horn Driver Similar to KSN1142A

Hi! I would like to lower the volume of this tweeter around 7db, to match the sensitivity of my woofer. What kind of resistor would I need to accomplish this?

Asked by: ikswelgibocaj

Does this replaces a POWERLINE CTS for my B-52. sR-18? It looks similar but mine comes with a protection circuit light bulb inside Thank you

Asked by: Memovalen
If the original driver was a screw-on piezo like this it will work as a replacement, however this does not have built in protection.

Does this driver have the protection circuit that the original 1142 has (PTZ and light bulb)?

Asked by: mbmtech
Unfortunately this driver does not have any built in protection.

what is the true RMS power of this driver, and i have a few more questions

what type of horn do i need for this tweeter? and the last one is what type of crossover do i need to get a response of 17k and up?the drivers i'm using go up to 17k so i want to know if you have a cross over that's good for that? i don't wan't over lapping frequencies
Asked by: bobb1234
Unfortunately the manufacturer does not specify the RMS rating for this driver although it is basically irrelevant when crossing at 17k. In order to have a high pass at this frequency you will need an 8 ohm resistor across the terminals of the driver and a 1.5 uF cap in series. This will work with any standard 1-3/8" 18 TPI mount horn lens.

crossover for garage speaker

i purchaced 290-310 8" 4 ohm speaker. and Brand: Lepai | Model: LP-168HA amp. what would be the simplest effective crossover (or none) in 1cubic ft sealed enclosure with these tweeters
Asked by: volkdigger
These do not require a crossover however I would recommend a 20 ohm 20 watt resistor in series for added protection.

Could this tweeter be attached to the Eminence Beta 8CX-8" Coax. I'm using it for a home HiFi setup.

The sensitivity of the recommended Eminence APT-50 tweeter is over 100dB, much to high for home use. Would this Piezo bullet with a sensitivity of 92db be a good match? The sensitivity of the Beta 8CX is 93dB.
Asked by: Paradigm
Yes this uses a standard 1-3/8 18TPI mount and will work with the BetaCX models. The sensitivity should work out well.
