GRS PZ1016 2" x 5" Piezo Horn Tweeter Similar to KSN1016A

The GRS PZ1016 is specifically designed and engineered to be a replacement for the very popular KSN1016A piezo tweeters from days gone by. Using a 22 mm ceramic piezo element, GRS piezo tweeters follow CTS' original recipe and are far superior to most look-alike piezos.

With a wide frequency range and ample power handling, the PZ1016 is also a prime candidate for new designs, especially if the crossover requirements must be kept to an absolute minimum.

Specifications: • Power handling: 50 watts RMS/75 watts max • Frequency response: 3,000-40,000 Hz • SPL: 92 dB 1W/1m • Dimensions: A: 5-3/4", B: 2-3/4", C: 2".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great price. How can you complain at a price point like this? I guess some people can. If I paid $20 a piece for these I would be angry. But I paid less than $2! Epic Win! Parts Express has all levels of quality and I knew just what I was getting. LOVE PARTS EXPRESS!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Order ExtrasFully one third of the 24 pcs recieved were unuseable, order extras and hand-select.None of the 1016 piezo clones are worth buying, IMHO.These measure 0.16µF, compared to the real 1016 at 0.13µF.The cheezy Pyle are 0.1µF

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good stuff! If you are only concerned about reproducing 4 or 5k and up then you might be better off with the Goldwood 1016s, but if you intend on reproducing a wider range (extending down to 2.5k or 3k) then these GRS 1016s are the way to go ..... If you want the best of both worlds you could take Brian Steele's advice and put one of the GRS 3k benders into a Goldwood 1016 horn! The results are extraordinary!P.S. I suspect that these GRS 1016s were shipping with two different distinct types of Piezo bender elements in them (at least at the time when i was making my order) , I left a note about it in the Q & A section ..

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Solid on higher frequenciesUsed this to replace horn on 4 way speaker. Unfortunately the crossover would have it handling some upper mids, which it made sound too harsh (added a hiss to letter "s" in vocals)I have since made it a pure tweeter where it functions more adequately. This is a highly sensitive tweet so be sure to add some resistance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Piezo tweeters.......Work well in an old pair of DBX Soundfields...... had to put in a small capacitor to tone them down a bit. These tweeters are very efficient , and if you like the Piezo sound....... these are a great deal !

GRS PZ1016 2" x 5" Piezo Horn Tweeter Similar to KSN1016A

What is the max continuous output of these horns when properly crossed over above 6k? How many would need to be vertically arrayed to reach 126db? Also what is the dispersion pattern? 90 X 40? Thanks

Asked by: SonicXtasy

What is the ohm value for this tweeter?

Asked by: ncarley
Piezo tweeters do not have impedance, they are capacitive.

Dose it matter what cone Material or tweeter type you use? Can you have different Material form the tweeter to the woofer?

Asked by: speakeradric
The material used on a tweeter is commonly different from the woofer. each has a different job and in most cases each material is suited to the frequency range that the driver is supposed to reproduce.

no crossover needed?

is this true or is a simple crossover still recomended? is there an internal crossover in the tweeter itself?
Asked by: Dave B
A piezo tweeter has a very high impedance (resistance) at lower frequencies (it actually rises the lower the frequency), therefore is self-limiting with regard to low frequency energy; so yes, no crossover is required, nor is one found internally. A simple outboard capacitor may be used to raise the natural crossover determined by the driver's impedance, say, to make it seamlessly blend with an existing speaker system. Consult a capacitor/crossover chart to select a cap or just call PE tech support. I hope this helps...
