Grado Prestige Series SR80i Headphones

Built on the same features as the SR60i, the SR80i utilizes a 4 conductor connecting cable and the diaphragms are put through a special de-stressing process in order to enhance inner detail, the result of which gives a more open stage. The way the SR80i's driver and plastic housing move air and react to sound vibrations are now less affected by transient distortions.

With the SR80i you will notice improved control of the upper and lower range of the frequency spectrum with both better supporting Grado's world-renowned midrange. The SR80i will produce a sound that is pure Grado, warm harmonic color, rich full bodied vocals, excellent dynamics and an ultra smooth top end. Listen and Enjoy! Handmade in Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A. Includes screw-on 1/4" (6.3 mm) plug adapter. Replaceable ear pads. 1-year warranty.

Grado Prestige Series SR80i Headphones
Grado Prestige Series SR80i Headphones is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Rated in Price ClassI have been fortunate enough to own several different sets of headphones, each of which are considered by many to be the best in their price class. If you spend any time researching headphones you will quickly find how highly regarded the SR80's are among the audiophile community. Check most any list of "Best Headphones under $100", "Top 10 Headphones", "Best Budget Headphones" etc., and you will almost always see the SR80 included. In my experience you will have to spend in the $200-300 range to get anything that is substantially better. You will hear detail you've never heard before, and these are also great for late night TV listening. You will, for instance, hear the ambiance of voices and footsteps in the studio where the show was filmed. These are very balanced across the entire musical spectrum with surprisingly good low bass that is uncolored, accurate, and full without being heavy or bloated. They are lightweight and I find them comfortable to wear. My iPhone easily drives these headphones, a factor to consider since some high quality headphones are difficult to drive with a smartphone output. These are easily one of the best audio investments I have ever made, truly a reference grade product at a very reasonable price. If you are shopping in the $100 price range you will do yourself a disservice if you do not consider these. If you are shopping at a lower range, I would encourage you to wait and save for the SR80's. If you are shopping in a higher range, you may want to consider these instead, and put your savings toward other audio gear, as you will have to look long and hard, and spend considerably more, to get any better headphone than these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from better than electrostatics?a year ago i decided i wanted a good set of headphones,i thought i knew what i wanted.i called my local hi-fi shop and asked if they had any stax sr-34 electrostatics, they did,i brought them home and started listening and something seemed off sonically,so i double checked wiring,ok,going back to store.A/B'd stax w/grado and grado won hands down.the most significant attribute of these cans is their awesome neutrality, the highest praise afforded to any piece of audio gear.the kicker is the grados are 100,the stax 300!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Grado SR80i headphones a great deal and much more comfortable then they sayDisclaimer-I have not owned many sets of headphones. A set of Senheisers in the distant past and some el cheapos recently. I wanted something that had some real sound. The SR80i's sound great to me with wonderful separation of sounds and good bass and treble. Price was right AND they are made in Brooklyn US of A. That last bit seals the deal for me.Before buying, I heard from a number of people that these headphones sound great, are a great deal but don't wear them too long or they hurt your ears. Without adjustment, they did become a little uncomfortable after 10 minutes. But following the directions that came with them, you bend out the middle hoop and suddenly they are absolutely fine. makes some sense that they would come adjusted to the smallest head size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbelievable for the price.I happen to own a pair of 125i Grados. I have tried these out though and can say that these are excellent as well. I don't know exactly what it is about Grados, but they sound like a really good pair of speakers.I bought mine in a local hifi store, and had been in several times in the past. I was looking for some new headphones and all they had was Grado. I asked why they weren't selling the others anymore and they told me the only headphones that were selling were the Grados. After using my 125i Grados for about a year now, I can say there isn't a moment when I wear them that I am not amazed.
