Product Details

Goldwood GW-6028 6-1/2" Butyl Surround Woofer 8 Ohm

Butyl rubber surrounds are superior to foam in two important ways. First, the butyl rubber resists moisture and will not dry rot, providing years of service. Second, the rubber surround, due to its superior damping characteristics will greatly reduce cone break up and ensure low distortion. These woofers are ideal for replacing and upgrading old, worn out drivers. They all feature a polypropylene cone, vented pole piece, foam gasket, soft poly dust cap, and stamped steel frame.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Replacement WooferI bought a pair of the 6028's to replace the OEM woofers in a pair of high quality direct reflecting speakers produced in Sweden in the 1970's. I was very pleasantly surprised with the end result, a slight increase in low end performance compared to the factory original. If you're looking for solid bass response from a small woofer, at a very reasonalbe cost, you should consider the Goldwoods.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great speakers survive an owner's screw-ups!Installed 4 of these in the doors of my F150. (Such an improvement over stock, there really is no comparison.)They sound great and they have a smooth midrange with clean reproduction of the lower frequencies. I was surprised by how smooth they sounded and how well they blended with the Vifa tweeters! I 3D printed some adapter plates instead of buying retail.I paired these woofers with Vifa NE25VTS-04 tweeters, that were installed in pods on the A-pillars. The Goldwood/Vifa combination, crossed over and timed aligned with a miniDSP, sounds amazing!I did have a terrible oscillation that burned up the first two sets of tweeters because of what seems to be a lifting/changing/spooky ground on my F150's radio harness. (I can watch the ground lift/change on my meter when I start the engine.) Always have a good, -consistent- ground reference!I mentioned the problem because, even after smoking two sets of tweeters, and clearly overpowering the whole system, the woofers never missed a beat (bad pun) and still sound great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from pleased, about to order my second one for ESM-4I purchased one of these from a local store years ago just as a cheap fix for one of my ESM-4 whose foam was too far gone. Until I pulled it back out of the speaker just now, I had no idea the make or model. I just discovered Parts-Express and was happy to find they carry this woofer because I was happy with the sound quality and I now need to replace the other one. It is a perfect fit, connectors are good and I see the frequency range goes to 4800Hz which I imagine probably makes it a better match for the 3500hz crossover point( I believe that's what I read for the ESM-4) than something that only goes to 4000Hz. I anticipate a good experience with the one I will receive. I'll let you know otherwise. Oh, also I was very, very pleased to see the OEM Vifa tweeters here too which I'm replacing do to toddlers curiosity and tiny fingers( who doesn't want to poke those things?)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from poor choiceI purchased these speakers in Feb. and installed them in cabinets I built. The speakers sounded great. At the end of Sept. one failed I called Parts express and they were great and exchanged it, but when I got the new driver and installed it it was scratchie. I again called Parts express and they sent out another replacement speaker. This time the speaker was good. Then a few days later the other driver in the other cabinet went bad. I will never buy Goldwood GW 6028 speakers again. The specs. that are listed on the website are not the same as what is on the speaker box. I am using a S.A.E R9B receiver rated at 90 watts per channel and have 2 sets of speakers on it. The Goldwood speakers are rated 170 watts max and 90 watts RMS

Goldwood GW-6028 6-1/2" Butyl Surround Woofer 8 Ohm

Are these a good replacement for "subwoofers" (I have my doubts) in Design Acoustics PS-3? If not, can you recommend a cheap replacement? Don't know the old subwoofer impedance. System impedance is 6 ohms but that's with satellite speakers in parallel.

Best assembled crossover for 2-way sealed box?

I'm going to install two of these in series to get 4ohm and pair with 1" ring dome tweeter 4 ohm in sealed box. is there an assembled crossover for my project? Thanks in advance
Asked by: Bigsound
Unfortunately we do not have any assembled crossovers that work with 4 ohm tweeters. You may want to use an 8 ohm tweeter and consider one of our Dayton crossovers that will work with 4 ohm woofer loads.

replacing 5 ohm woofers

im replacing 5 ohm woofers in a three way system, and they are 5ohm. would 4 or 8 ohm be more suitable?
Asked by: basshead
A 5 ohm woofer is very unusual. Go with 4 ohm replacements. That will have the least impact on the crossover network. You should also consider that the driver you select should match the box size and efficiency
