Product Details

Goldwood GW-6024 6-1/2" Butyl Surround Woofer 4 Ohm

Butyl rubber surrounds are superior to foam in two important ways. First, the butyl rubber resists moisture and will not dry rot, providing years of service. Second, the rubber surround, due to its superior damping characteristics will greatly reduce cone break up and ensure low distortion. These woofers are ideal for replacing and upgrading old, worn out drivers. They all feature a polypropylene cone, vented pole piece, foam gasket, soft poly dust cap, and stamped steel frame.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from drop in replacement that outperforms originalThis was purchased to replace the original drivers in a pair of Infinity RS-2000 speakers. I had previously refoamed them, but a failure in the control app on my reciever maxxed out the volume control. This seems to have cooked the coils in both drivers. I purchased these as replacements and they dropped right in. They out perform the originals in both quality and endurance, with the added benefit of the rubber surrounds for longevity. I have two additional pairs of these speakers and will be replacing the drivers in all of them with these units. And parts express had them shipped same day and they were at my door withtin 48 hours at the basic shipping rate. Are they world class? No, but neither were the originals, so these were a 5 of 5 stars for cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Breathed new life into our old JBL Control 5 MonitorsWe have 2 sets of old JBL Control 5's that have woofers with rotted out surrounds. We opted to replace them, but with a more economical woofer. These were the perfect choice. Correct impedance and power handling as well as a perfect fit. I even think that they made them sound a tad warmer( I think the 5's sound a bit bright to begin with). The bass appears to be better than with the original woofers. If I could have only done an A/B comparison. Seems to be a good replacement over the $55 original woofer. Plus they have a butyl rubber surround which will never break down like the foam ones do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used as ReplacementsI have a pair of 20+ yrs old Polk Audio 5jr's and I blow one of the speakers. After doing some searching it was recommended that I use these as a replacement. I replaced the speaker in both boxes so they would be matched. I can't even tell the difference in sound quality. The specs on these seem better than the original Polk specs. Very happy with these.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Low End Response!I tried this on a whim. Installed these 6024`s in a pair of 20 liter boxes. Used a passive c/o 12db AT 100 HZ. Box response software shows a QTC of .90, F3 of 57.6 hz., and a F7 of 45 hz, all from sealed cabinets. Oh yes, had .5 RE resistance factored in. The 45 hz. at F7 is very beleivable as the low end of these woofers is very forceful. I would use these again with the caveat of needing a somewhat larger box which will keep the QTC from getting out of hand. At .90 it is getting a mite thumpy, yet still ok. The woofers WT3 measured out at +/- 5 to 10% from one another. This could have been better, hence the lowered rating.

What's the bolt cutout diameter on this speaker (and the other Goldwood 4ohm 6.5 inch speakers)? Please suggest which speaker will fit a 6.75" bolt cutout diameter. Thanks.

What would be enclosure volume and port dimension for 2 of this driver in the same enclosure that tuned F3 to about 30Hz? My calculation is 1.32 cubic foot with a port diameter of 3 inches and length of 10 inches. Would that work?

Asked by: Khanh Nguyen
That volume and port provide a tuning frequency of 34 Hz. The response also does not look very good, these could probably hit 30 Hz but it will be low in output compared to frequencies above this.

I am planning to put 2 of this driver in the same enclosure. What would be the enclosure volume and port dimension for F3 of about 30Hz? Thanks,

Asked by: Khanh Nguyen
Getting a modeled F3 that low with this driver is not really possible. I would recommend a volume of 1.9 cubic feet for two, with a 3" diameter port that is 4" long. This will tune the box to about 39 Hz and should easily reach the low 30's in room.

I am looking to replace the woofers from infinity CS60 in wall speakers the bolt pattern is a square (seems we used to call it pin cushion) 4.75in on a side or 6.75 diagonally. They are advertised as 6 1/2 but the frame is actually 6.25 in diameter.
