Goldwood GW-4028/S 4" Woofer Shielded

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vented MMT will blow you away.I have these compact wonders in a vented MMT and a Vented MMMMT and both will amaze. Both are low powered systems and are impressive when used without subs.If you watch movies at reasonable levels these make amazing slimline towers. I hope to order more soon to see how they might do in a sealed system.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good ReplacementBought one of these several years ago to replace a blown woofer on a Realistic Minimus 7. Perfect drop-in, no mods. I don't know if it's an exact replacement, but it looks almost exactly the same, except made in Malaysia instead of Japan, and my ears can't tell the difference.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent little mid-range replacementHad to find replacement mid-range drivers for a pair of KLH 365 tower speakers. The cabinets were still in excellent shape after about 10 years. After minor work with a router, they were a drop in replacement. I did break them in for 50-55 hours. The stated specs for these drivers are very accurate, as I tested all parameters myself and found tolerances rather tight. Considering the price paid, this driver is well worth the money. These mids are playing between 750Hz and 4.4 KHz on my own 3-way, 4th order LR crossover design. Vocals are amazingly clean for this inexpensive midrange. These are not Morel drivers, but for cost-to-performance ratio, I would definitely place these high on the list. These little gems will not dissapoint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used to great success in Line ArrayHave a set of six of these in a line array and they surprising level of detail provided was astonishing.Great speaker and value.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from kinda flimsynot much to say, the mounting holes were too far inward for my purpose, so i cant say about the performance. however, they are very cheaply made and bend easily. one of the frames was bent when i got it, not much, but enough. and the other went flying onto the floor when i tried to open the package and pretty much destroyed it. it was bent enough so that the surround was pulled taught. probably a good driver.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great replacement speakerI buy old or used speakers at thrift stores that are good and solid for rebuilding. iSympony pair of speakers are the cabinets I replaced using these. Less the speaker volume you get about 200 cubic inches and ported 1.250 by 3" long tube. Amazing results. Teamed them up with 2.5" cone tweeter 270-034. But there is a problem with these drivers and that is the hook up terminals are switched on some drivers causing a miss matched polarity and could be the reason some are not getting the bottom end results. Check ALL woofers with a battery to confirm the proper polarity. They really are good speakers with a great midrange response and base down to about 50 Hz I would estimate. Perfect for the small compact satellite speakers.

looking for a 4" woofer for Minimus sized ported enclosure

looking at Goldwood 4"'s with the rubber surrounds. want to strip out cheap speakers in upscale Aiwa' bookshelf CD-receiver unit and drop in real speakers, x-over and "stuffing" to preserve "look" of the set.
Asked by: DCS1
This would do, but unless you really require shielded speakers [bookshelf speakers were notorious for corrupting video and audio tapes on the same shelf], opt for ones with less depth to maximize the working volume of the enclosure.
