Goldwood GW-1258 12" Pro Woofer is rated 4.25 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from EV ReplacementsI bought a pair of these a year ago to replace those in my EV PA speakers. I bought a set of Eminence ASD 1001 1" titanium horn drivers to match up with them.I use them six nights a week on the beach. The speakers have done a beautiful job while taking massive amounts of punishment as they suck in salt air. They have not let me down.I did have to replace one of the Eminence horn drivers but that was caused by a high frequency blast of feedback that could melt steel.Great value!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Budget SpeakerI used this woofer in an Econowave design in an 3.3 cu ft. sealed box. I used the standard high efficiency crossover with the Selenium d220ti tweeter and pyle waveguide. This has worked well for some good sounds around the pool for the summer. Not the lowest bass but good output for most music. One of the woofers came in with a voice coil rub but PE was good in the return process. I would recommend this setup for a cheap high efficiency econowave project.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Guitar SpeakerI used this speaker as a replacement for a Celestion G12T-75 in one of my JJ powered, all tube 40 watt Guitar Combo Amp's, and what a difference! This speaker sounds way better than the stock Celestion... Tight and Bright!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Terrible as a guiitar speakerMakes a terrible guitar speaker, should've known it from the specs. Resonance is way too low, cone is reinforced, voiced terribly for guitar. Just avoid this if you're thinking about using it for guitar

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well worth a try as a guitar/keyboard wooferThis is a strange and interesting one. I haven't actually played with it it was damaged during delivery. The damage is rather odd the edge of the basket was dented a bit by an obvious drop since it left an imprint of the inside of the box. The factory box is very flimsy; just thin cardboard with out any internal supports of packing braces, the driver just sits there in a plastic bag and is not secured by anything. The driver it self is indeed rather odd, it's a vented pole piece with a strong 50oz magnet but the basket is increasingly thin, soft stamped metal. Spider/cone look good, the dust cap is vented straight through the voice coil and out the magnet, so VC heating should not be a problem in sealed boxes under continues load. Even I haven't got to testing just by looking at it I would guess that this is an OEM based driver with possible intended use in pro guitar/keyboard cabinets. My best bet would be on sealed, powered guitar cabinets (about 150 watts RMS). I don't think this one would properly take 300 RMS, but since I haven't actually ran it it's only a guess. If I was putting together a guitar cabinet I would have exchanged the damaged one for a fresh one because there is definitely something special about this driver. Everything about it except the soft basket is clearly intended for pro use, and maybe in its intended application the rigid basket is not needed and a soft one simply lowers the manufacturing cost, but since I was planning on trying it as a hard driven mid bass reinforcement woofer, because of the soft basket I would have returned it even if it was not damaged. Yet again, if anybody is looking for a rather promising guitar/keyboard woofer give it a try, the price is definitely right and I would not at all be surprised if a number of big brand names in pro audio are using these as their OEMs.

Goldwood GW-1258 12" Pro Woofer

Would this work well with a piezo tweeter in a stage monitor?

Asked by: Drumolator
This will work with a piezo as an inexpensive stage monitor option. The only trouble you might have would be tweeter output levels, so you may need more than one.

This woofer has a paper surround. Will it last a while or should I be looking for woofers with cloth surrounds?

Asked by: Minimus7
This uses a treated paper surround so it will last as long as the woofer assuming its not abused. We have sold this model for many years and I have not had a single call regarding a surround failure.
