Goldwood GW-1058 10" Pro Woofer
Goldwood GW-1058 10" Pro Woofer is rated 4.0833 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from specs?!specs' as by PE vs label on box; magnet weight 5.25/3.125 pounds. power max225/280 wattsfreq res45-4KHz/31-4.9KHz ( I don't believe it with an Fs 43Hz).I'm putting it the 245-324 cabinet which I 'bumped-out' part of the baffle, flush front adding 0.1 ft3. And made a plywood 'ring' to correct for cutout dimension. (9.25 " dia.).O/A internal volume 1.7 '3. Absolutly requires a ported cabinet! This set-up will give an F-3 of 49.47 Hz.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Replacement WooferI needed to replace 4x10" woofers in an old Ampeg Bass amp, since three were blown or had holes in the cone. After going back and forth with Ampeg support for three days, I was told the woofers were no longer available. To which I asked " Is there a suitable replacement? Something that I could wire for 8ohms or so and have suitable wattage for the output that this head is rated for?" The answer I got was:"No there is not. I apologize for the inconvenience." I was very displeased with the customer service in this case. I did the legwork and found these woofers at PartsExpress. I was weary at first, but I have to say, I'm extremely pleased with this product and the exceptional customer service at PartsExpress. My amp sounds better than it ever did!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great in Fender Bassman and Super Reverb AmpsOld Fender Bassman and Super Reverb amps have four 10" speakers, so replacing them all can get expensive fast. These are better than OEM speakers because their Fs is lower and the high end is smoother. At least those are characteristics I prefer in a guitar or bass speaker. Young players may have different tastes.Stock Eminence drivers SEEM louder, because they actually are in a very narrow mid-frequency range (around 2.5 kHz). That creates the illusion that they are much louder because most people hear better in that range. Personally, I like the sound of these better even though they are slightly less sensitive. That doesn't matter unless you run your amp at full blast. Most sane people don't so that. Four of these speakers and a new set of matched tubes makes these old amps sound fantastic. Clean the pots, blow out the dust, replace any toasted components. Re-bias as necessary and re-solder any questionable joints. By the time you tighten everything down & put your tools away, the whole process takes about an hour.Voila! Vintage old-school tone, better than new and under budget! These speakers are really great for the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for P.A. UseI purchased 5 of these when they were on sale to use in stage monitor cabinets. When they arrived, I decided to use 2 of them in a small trapazoid cabinet for a small 2-way top end design.Wether you use these in small stage monitors, front end cabinets,or bass cabinets, they seem to perform well as long as attention is given to the cabinet design and porting for the specific use.I personally believe that the power rating might be a little modest having run these speakers beyond the peak rating without any problems on more than one occasion. They seem to work well clear out to 3.5k before any noticable drop off occurs. I wish I had bought more and most likely will even at regular price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nearly Ideal 10" WooferHoffman's Iron Law: you can produce loud bass, low bass, and and have small speaker, but only 2 at a time. I spent a lot of time shopping for woofers before selecting this one, and it plays lower and louder in a smaller and lighter box than anything else I found. Smaller speakers are much wimpier, and more powerful speakers are larger by unfair margins.I use these in birch plywood boxes of 2 cubic feet, and a 1" x 12" vent tuned to 38hz. 1" x 12" is just a little too small; at maximum volume, there is slightly noticeable chuffing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great project speakerI bought two of these speakers with hopes of building a stereo amp that I could do everything with...play my acoustic guitar, my electric, my keyboard and in a pinch, run a vocal through. I finished the project a year ago. These speakers perform VERY well with keyboard and sensibly-played electric guitar and excel in sound quality when playing the acoustic electric. It's been a year now and they've held up very well. I'm very pleased!

Goldwood GW-1058 10" Pro Woofer

Would this woofer work well with this crossover, Eminence PXB2:3K5 2-Way Speaker Crossover Board 3,500 Hz Part # 290-636, and this tweeter, Eminence APT-80 Super Tweeter with 80 degree Conical Horn Part # 290-532? If not, what do I need?

Asked by: jfass
Yes those will work fine together. I would also recommend an L-pad to put in line with the horn to help bring its overall volume level down a little to match the woofer. Something like below will work fine for this.http://www.parts-express.com/speaker-l-pad-attenuator-50w-mono-1-shaft-8-ohm--260-255

What can I tune my 1.5 cubic ft cabinets to , ideally to get the best response ( using the GW 1058 - 1 per cabinet ) ? They are tuned to 50Hz now

Asked by: Nick Thomas
That cabinet size would be ideally tuned right at 40 Hz.

Would these work well to replace 8 8ohm speakers in a carvin 810 vented caninet? I am running a Eade Nemesis 650 Thanks
Asked by: Pepperbass
While we do not have any kind of cross-reference by brand, model, or anything of the sort, yes, this product should be suitable for your application.
