Goldwood GT-525 1" Soft Dome Tweeter

Surprising performance at a low cost! The Goldwood GT-525 1" soft dome tweeter is a great drop-in replacement for the 8 ohm high frequency drivers found in many older speaker systems. The GT-525 tweeter's efficiency is increased by a semi-horn-loaded face plate, which also helps control directivity. A precisely contoured pure silk dome ensures smooth, non-fatiguing response.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great tweeter for the priceHad these for a couple years now pushed them with a sony dn-1010 receiver and they sound great i power my custom center channel with a alesis ra-100 studio amp voices are clean and clear i custom built all the speaker cabinets and used these in all them

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sound great, but read full reviewI purchased 7 of these for my 7.2 basement home theatre. They sound great! However a word of warning, echoing some other reviewers. The plastic is BRITTLE, hand tighten the last half inch(I hand tightened about a quarter inch and still three of them cracked!). Also, be extra extra careful when soldering wires directly to the terminals. I had two terminals simply melt off right in my face! BUT the reason you buy them from Parts Expressis that as soon as it happened I called and they are sending me two replacement tweeters. So maybe use clips on the terminals on the end of your wire and crimp them and then you will have outstanding tweeters for this price point. Once again, I want to reiterate how awesome the customer service is with this company. I will do ALL my business with them. Attached are a couple pics of the tweeters in the speakers I built with Parts Express parts. Cheers!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Goldwood? Why not?Had a pair of Yamaha's at work when one of the tweeters developed a broken wire leading to the voice coil. (Not burned, just broken). I couldn't find a replacement so after noticing that we always kept the treble turned up a notch to balance it with the bass, (the speakers are mounted by the ceiling in the corners of the room to get the best bass response without putting extra demand on the amp) I decided to try these 92 SPL tweeters. Perfect for our setup!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cannot handle power as advertisedThis review is going to sound very amateur. I purchased a pair of these tweeters to upgrade from my "Goldwood GT-25 4" Cone Tweeter". I wanted a richer, crisper sound. However, one thing I have learned is that these silk soft dome tweeters are much like horn tweeters and they 'crackle' when pushed. I do not use a powered sub, so I am feeding my towers with as much power as my Onkyo can give, and while the drivers can take it, the two different brands of silk dome tweeters I've tried and the three different horns could not. Interestingly enough, as far as tweeters go, the $4.00 cone tweeters offered by Goldwood hold up remarkably better, despite having a smaller magnet and being rated to handle less power.

I want to put these in a pair of Pioneer CS-911A's to replace the super tweeter. Anyone see any issues in doing so?

Asked by: rjohns64
I dont see any issues as long as there is an appropriate crossover installed to protect the tweeter.

Will this tweeter be ok crossed over at 4khz @ 6db slope. ?  Hi power handling is not an issue. Thanks Bob

Asked by: sonicbob
I would recommend no less than 5kHz at 6dB/octave for this tweeter.

What is the size/kind of terminals?

Asked by: R.J. Maurer
It is my understanding they are 8AWG spade terminals (male). I always use 8's and crimped tight then add a small bead of soldier to secure mechanically and electrically.

What would be a good crossover for these tweeters?

I'll be using them with the GRS 8PR-8 (292-428) in a 2 way.

With an Fs of 1000hz and 50W power handling a 3000hz xover /12db should be safe
