Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value tweeter! For under $5 this one is hard to beat. Good crisp clean highs from this little driver. Good size magnet, well built and produces surprisingly good results, making it the best under $5 tweeter I have seen!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good value replacement tweeter for older speakersUsed this to replace the blown tweeters in a pair of JVC SP-7WD speakers. These were cheap, big-box speakers meant to impresses the novice audio buyer with their looks. The original hole was 2.9", which should have fit but the tweeter has a small ring on the back which necessitated putting a chamfer on the mounting hole with a dremel tool. Not a big deal. The tweeters blend well with the rest of the 80's paper cone components. I like how they sound and you can't beat the price. While I had the drivers out I also replaced the electrolytics with Dayton film caps. They definitely improved the sound quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tweeter!I had bought two of these some years ago to replace the blown stock tweeters in my Fisher STV-724 3-ways. Though happy, I thought I could improve on the sound by upgrading to the $17.75 ea. Dayton #275-045 (DC25T-8) 1" Titanium Dome Tweeter. Both had the same frequency ranges. At the time of the upgrade I did not hear much of a difference and even thought maybe there was a drop in the highs a tad with the domes. Still I left the domes in. I recently blew one of the titaniums and temporarily replaced it with one of the old Goldwoods. It was then I realized that the Goldwood actually had more highs…more tweet! I performed a thorough A/B test to make sure, using a recording of a Bach Concerto with harpsichord (good metallic highs). Convinced, I bought 2 new ones as I broke one of the terminals on the old Goldwood during the A/B test. Thankfully none of the specs and designs had changed since my first pair. Before you spend a lot of money replacing tweeters on a mid level speaker I would highly recommend these to start with. Please note, my cut out was 3 1/2" tight. I had to bend the terminals slightly up in order to allow the connected wire terminals to fit through the hole. Also only two of the screw holes could be utilized with this size hole. No matter, they are secure with 2. I would not throw these in my JBL 4301B Control Monitors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A wise choice for a generic drop-in tweeter.I used these in an old set of Toshiba Concave SS-17 speakers along with new woofers (GRS 8PR-8). They were a perfect fit, sound MUCH better than the originals and I have ZERO complaints. They fit a 3 inch opening perfectly, if not a bit tight. I had to bend the connector tabs just a bit, but no cabinet modifications were necessary.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great replacement for 3" cutouts. These tweeters are a little cheap looking and I worried that they would blow easily. They seem decently built upon inspection, however. Other than that, they sound good and put out highs very crisply. Great monkey coffin replacements, because it is hard to find 3" cutout tweeters that aren't complete garbage. Can't beat these at this price, either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from mini mod tweeterHi Listeners,I've been using the GT 25 in the MGA Mini Mod for a year now and love the results. This is a tweeter you must get to know mechanically to hear what it can do. For those who might know me, you know that I take the opposite approach to drivers that many do. I don't believe in over built crossovers and dampening. My designs are free resonant and as such what the driver is attached to and the response after that contact is made means everything. The GT 25 can sound very poor not used correctly, but set free it is quite the performer. One note for those using minimal parts, the GT 25 must have the perfect partner in a woofer companion and cabinet design or it can sound boxed in. Set free, very smooth, full and extended. Thanks parts express for your contribution to fine audio.michael green/RoomTune

Replacement for Bose 301 blown tweeter

Hi, I have an old pair of Bose 301 series 1 speakers and one has a blown tweeter. I'm only using them for home theater back surround. I believe the Bose tweeter is 8 ohms and the crossover is around 2500 Hz. Would the Goldwood GT-25 tweeter be close enough in specs to work? Thanks - Bob
Asked by: otfiddler
No. The Bose drivers are very specific. You need to contact Bose service and get a replacement from them

What crossover do you recommend?

I have a vintage hifi system, I'm replacing the two existing woofers with Goldwood GW-210/8 woofers and the tweeter with the Goldwood GT25 4" cone tweeter. Is there a prebuilt crossover that would work well in this configuration?
Asked by: MsJefferson
Since you will be using two 8 ohm woofers, I would recommend the Dayton 260-148.

are these closed back?

Yes, these are typical, sealed-back cone tweeters.

Confused with 2 reviews left

There are 2 reviews in which 2 of your customers utilized the GT-25 to replace the tweeters in some older Fisher ST-830's. Both said it worked great and one said it didn't fit (but it will). I also need to replace the tweeters in my Fisher St-830's however, the original tweets & midranges are both 4 ohm. Will this work?
Asked by: Grabbergreen
Replacing a 4 ohm tweeter with an 8 ohm tweeter will shift the existing crossover frequency down by approximately one octave. This will not damage your amplifier, but depending upon the specific crossover frequency being used, it could damage the new 8 ohm tweeter itself. It would also have a significant impact on the overall sound quality of the speaker system, by reinforcing certain frequencies that the 4 ohm tweeter was not originally covering. It is usually best to replace like with like, however, if you're replacing other drivers and the crossover network, you can choose components that will work well together. I would recommend strongly against replacing a 4 ohm tweeter with an 8 ohm (or vice versa) in the vast majority of situations.
