Gold Plated Dual Banana Plug Red

Dual banana plugs have been widely used in the electronics industry since early in the last century. Commonly used with test equipment, dual banana plugs are designed with industry standard 0.75" center to center post spacing. A plastic tag molded to one side of the connector is marked GND so the user can quickly identify the negative side of the connector. An integrated strain relief on one side of the connector holds the cable securely in place. Accepts up to 12 AWG cable and attaches with screw terminals so soldering is not necessary. Gold plated brass contacts will provide a lifetime of use free of oxidation.

Gold Plated Dual Banana Plug Red is rated 3.2308 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the priceI have a HT/Music system in my den that resides in a 6' tall equipment rack. The den system uses 8 of these connectors for the L&R Mains, and a pair for each of the discreet zones on the whole house system. When using wire with insulation too thick for both conductors to pass through the retainer hole, I just use a small wire tie to secure things. They work great for low power applications of 250w or less. I don't use them above 250w per channel amps as they can heat up and become loose.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not matchingI think most would assume that the red would match the black Gold plated Dual banana plug. They don't, the stain relief on the side is much smaller on the red. I couldn't get the 2 12 gauge wires though so had to order another black.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for an inexpensive item but a little flimsy.I have several of these in both black and red which I use with my sound equipment and home theatre system. The gold plating is nice and keeps the connections clear. These are made from a softer plastic than I remember from years ago so they are a bit flimsy compared to some I've had since the 60s/70s.The real problem is the set screws work loose very easily. I have had several occasions where I was looking for a bad connection in the middle of a show, only to find the screw was loose or even missing. Now when I use these I drop a little liquid electrical tape product into the top of each hole to hold the set screw in place. That works well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from NG for AVR'sFor a convenient way to connect a pair of speaker wires to your AVR receiver forget these. Pin-to-pin dimensions are such that these will not connect to the proper terminals. Will order separate banana plugs as in original plan. These returned.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buy the PomonaThis is a poor copy of the industry standard, Pomona. First problem is finding a screwdriver with a thin enough blade to operate the screws. Second problem is that with the screws backed out to the point of clamping a wire, there was insufficient hole depth to stack another plug without it falling out if wiggled. I ended up taking each screw out and grinding it down to remove height and then cutting a wider notch so that a real screwdriver would work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bass amp now has new connectorsMy bass amp has both 1/4" and banana type outputs. For better contact, I opted for the banana jacks. These plugs worked nicely. I used 13 Ga Dayton wire, which slipped effortlessly into the plug's terminals. The only modification I had to do was drill out the keeper on the bottom of the plug. Widening the hole allowed me to feed the wires through while keeping the outter jacket of the wire nice and snug in the plug's keeper. A great value for the money.
