Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked GreatThey worked great. No problems. ALthough I used them on 12 guage wire and they were a little tight. I tried to tin the wire and then insert the wire into the plug. It wouldn't fit. So i inserted the wire first and then soldered it. Seemed to work fine. Also, nice tight fit into binding post on speaker and wall plate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ideal banana plugs for solderingIn short, great plugs for 12 gauge wire at a reasonable price.I needed simple solder type banana plugs for two 7.1 installs. 12 gauge wire fits them perfectly.Gold plating makes soldering as easy as it gets. These plugs do not come with an outer cover.I used coloured heat shrink tube wrap for polarity identification and to insulate the exposed portion of the plug which is my preference not a requirement.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from As describedPurchased these for personal use and they work very well with my Kimber 4TC cable. To the three or four tools at the bottom who whined about it not working well when crimped, LOOK AT THE DESCRIPTION, it's a SOLDER connector! Anyway I will purchase more of these in the future.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great inexpensive solutionI bought these to try in my personal theater and have since bought them to use on installs for my customers. They are a great inexpensive solution for a banana plug. They do require that you solder them onto the wire since the wall of the connector is too thin for crimping onto the wire. Plus there is no type of teeth on the inside of the connector to bite into the cable when crimped. Will continue to buy this product for all future installs.

Gold 16-12 AWG Solder Type Banana Plug

What kind of solder do you use for these to get the best quality?

Asked by: ohioboiler
Use a 60-40 lead/tin rosin-core [flux] solder. Use also, a 700F degree minimum solder iron [available from PE] with clean tinned-tip and heat until solder flows freely. Tin the wire first, slip into the terminal and heat and apply a little more solder to flowing and allow to cool.Do not use ROHS compliant or "no-clean" solder. These are required for new industrial-manufactured consumer products. Not for hobby or repair use, because it requires much higher temperature to melt properly.

What is the barrel diameter of this item? Is it considered to be a 3mm (0.12") plug?

Asked by: Joe1
The OD of the barrel on the wire end is 3.5mm, ID is 2.56mm. The OD of the banana plug (uncompressed) is 5mm.
