Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved my budget and sanity! As I said, this saved my budget and sanity, when hooking up our new xBox One. This allowed the optical audio out to connect to our stereo RCA in, and to computer speakers 1/8 input plug. We move the game back to a bedroom from time to time to a monitor without sound. Also allows headphones ( Senheiser HD580 ) straight out of FiiO adaptor and off the computer speakers we use for volume controll.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good productBought this to run audio from a Samsung t.v. which only had an optical audio out. Ran it to a Lepai t amp and Polk speakers for my son's X-box. Sounds great

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Apple TV to Marantz SR7007 Amplifier.I found that my Marantz SR7007 Amplifier required Analog Audio as input signals for Zone 2 & 3. Therefore, while my Apple TV provided great audio to my main zone (Zone 1), Zones 2 & 3 were quiet. Therefore, I used the FIIO DAC along with a "Toslink Digital Optical Audio Cable 3 ft." to provide the separate analog signal to the SR7007 amp. Works great!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works with Large TV SetsI have a 92 inch Mitsubishi TV that I wanted to connect to a powered mixer and stage speakers for big sound . This device made it possible as the only audio output was digital coaxial . Thanks to this product I was able to do what I wanted and the results were very impressive !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Optical to Analog AudioMy new Samsung Smart TV has only digital outputs for auxillary audio. And as most everyone knows, the native audio on modern thin flatscreens sucks.so you need some outboard sound repro. My Sherwood 100W per side receiver and 2.1 Polk and Yamaha speakers - already on hand - are fine for this application. But the 4503 Sherwood has only analog inputs, so this little converter is perfect for converting the digital audio - I use optical - to analog. Works just fine, makes a huge difference in the Pandora playback. Clarity and dynamic range are acceptable and marked improvements over the native speakers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EffectiveSolves the problem of getting good audio from the modern "skinny" flat screen TV. Our new Samsumg plasma has only digital audio out. My receiver, though new, has only analog stereo inputs. Solution - this little D to A converter that gives me a left/right analog audio output. A bonus is that the clarity and dynamic range are definitely better than taking the analog audio feed off the satellite receiver.

I'm thinking of purchasing some dayton B652 AIR speakers connected to a PC, which have a freq response of 70-25,000 Hz, would this mean that using this DAC hinders my speakers capabilities since the freq resp on the DAC is only 20-20,000 Hz?

Asked by: Rohit12359
While this may be true theoretically, you will likely never hear anything above 20k anyway. Most people hit a brick wall at about 16-17k, so the extension listed for the B652-AIR or any speaker than extends beyond 20k is mainly for marketing purposes, whether it will actually reproduce those frequencies or not. I would not be worried about missing out on anything based purely on the published frequency responses for these devices.

Asked by: FritzG
This will accept any PCM digital input and convert it to a stereo analog output.

Is there a headphone jack on this device?

Asked by: Shellie
No, there is only a 3.5mm fixed line output. The DAC below does have a variable headphone output.http://www.parts-express.com/dac-digital-to-analog-audio-converter-optical---coaxial---usb--180-998
