FiiO Alpen E17 USB DAC Headphone Amplifier

The E17 is a remarkably well-built, well-thought out headphone amplifier from the folks at FiiO. It features sleek industrial design, anodized aluminum enclosure, simple, intuitive controls, and a bright, easy to read dual-color OLED screen.

The E17 can be used as a 96K/24-bit USB plug and play soundcard for PC or Mac, but it isn't tied to the desktop. It features 3.5mm analog input as well as a digital input that accepts mini-toslink or 3.5mm digital coaxial cables - adapters are included to make sure that you can use full-size digital connectors, as well. A 1500 mAH rechargeable lithium ion battery ensures complete portability and up to 15 hours of operation between charges. A full compliment of settings including EQ, bass boost, and sleep timer let you customize the E7 to exactly your specifications.

The best part? The performance from this amplifier is unbeatable, and will add clarity and volume to any listening session. Top quality parts were used throughout, including a Texas Instruments PCM2706 USB receiver, Wolfson 8740 DAC chip, and amplification by ADI AD8692.

A full compliment of accessories rounds out this incredible package, including a USB to mini-USB cable for charging, a 3.5mm male to male cable to plug into a cell phone or MP3 player, and a robust rubber band to strap the E17 to your portable device. Keeping the E17 in tip-top shape is no problem, either, because it also includes a clear screen protector and velour carrying pouch with snap.

FiiO Alpen E17 USB DAC Headphone Amplifier is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome ProduceI am a professional musician and need to listen to my mixes on my laptop after recording, mastering and downloading. I have a pair of the latest Bose headphones and my laptop wasn't pumping out enough volume. Sometimes I like to "feel" the music and I couldn't do this before on my MacBook Pro with the built-in sound card. This device not only drives my Bose QC-25, but it gives the quality that justifies paying for top of the line headphones.I was told by the Bose rep that laptop sound cards are cheap and don't really boost the frequencies, but simply pulls down other frequencies around it. I was also getting distortion when I used iTunes' equalizer to increase the loudness (gain) when I wanted to feel the music surround my ears.If you are looking for a quality DAC, this is the one. I was very happy about my purchase. I normally don't take the time to provide reviews, but I thought I would in this case since I remember the anxiety I had when looking for a quality DAC.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing sound!I bought this just a week ago. It's main purpose was to use it on my computer at work which apparently has "dirty" power causing EMI (electromagnetic interference) which is picked up by the sound produced by the sound card's analog outputs. No mater which headphone our analog audio out I used my headphones would pick up a constant hum & changing buzz sounds when different workloads on my workstation required more or less power. This device acts like an external sound card when connected via USB. I run Kubuntu Linux & the device just worked, no need to install any drivers or software. Just needed to set it as the default audio device in the system settings & that was it. The sound is AMAZING! Not only did I get clean & clear sound uninfluenced by EMI but I heard instruments in songs from my music library that I had never noticed before!

FiiO Alpen E17 USB DAC Headphone Amplifier

Can this be used as a digital input to computer (via the USB)

Asked by: Mike1138

What is the difference between this and the E07?

Asked by: Mescolito
The main difference between these amplifiers are the chips used. The E17 uses a Texas Instruments PCM2706 USB receiver, Wolfson 8740 DAC chip, and amplification by ADI AD8692. The E07 does not specify which usually means a more generic parts list was used.

Asked by: fio1
