FaitalPRO 3FE22 3" Neodymium Professional Full-Range Woofer 4 Ohm
FaitalPRO 3FE22 3" Neodymium Professional Full-Range Woofer 4 Ohm is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from best option for big sound in a small spaceWow. If you've ever wanted to build a compact system that blows the doors off anything at the store, this is the driver to use. This one speaker out performs 4 of those Phillips tv modules. The treble is distorted at first but they clean up nicely if broken in properly. Must also heavily eq out the mids and pay special attention to your port resonance frequency to tune that out as well. My boxes are 0.9L, 1.5" garbage disposal downpipe 5.5" long. I also did well with a 3/4" port at 3" long but port speed is off the charts. Covered inside walls with cotton pipe insulation wrap to reduce excursion. No bass at all out of these, they don't respond to it anyway. I did 48dB drop off at 120Hz. The system shown produces 124db with astonishing clarity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sounds Fantastic with Very Little WorkRun this little driver full range in a 2.5L box ported and tuned to 85Hz. Protect against the lowest frequencies (I used a 330uF cap as my only x-over component) and you won't be disappointed! I hear parts in music on this speaker I never did before due to the exceptional clarity. This speaker just plain sounds good. It hits lower frequencies than you would expect, although distorts the bass at higher volumes. With high xlim and 40rms peak handling, very difficult to destroy. This driver went in my first project, and I've since built a few 2-way designs including my own designs as well as some popular ones (Overnight Sensations) and other single driver designs with Dayton RS100's and Dayton ND91's, but I still think this little driver blows away everything else I've heard in terms of clarity. Off axis response in incredible, even in the treble.Of course, your SPL is limited in the bass due to size and xmax, but its still surprising what this speaker can due in a properly tuned ported enclosure. I amplfy it with a Lepai 2020+ and use almost all of the bass boost the amp has. Great for lower volume listening, and an easy first project.

Does PE include driver and port volume in its enclosure recommendation? What is the port recommendation for this driver @ .02cuft?

Asked by: unprofessional expert
I would recommend a port that is 3/4" in diameter and 3" long for that volume. This will tune the box to 113 Hz.

If I use the .04 cu ft speaker box that Parts Express sells what size of port should I use and what frequency would I get?  Last question is would I still use poly fill in the cabinet with the port?  Thank you.

Asked by: Soundguy84
This driver will work well in that enclosure. I would recommend a 1" diameter, 4" long port like the one below, which will tune the box to about 112 Hz. I would recommend lightly stuffing the enclosure.http://www.parts-express.com/speaker-cabinet-port-tube-1-id-x-4-l-flared--260-470

the box volumes above cannot be right. What is a recommended sealed volume and corresponding freq rolloff? What is a ported volume. port dia/length?

Asked by: avcinhouston
These are calculated using bass box pro's high fidelity settings. They are a .707 sealed alignment and the High fidelity vented alignment is shooting for the maximum flat response. These both look like the correct alignments.
