Product Details

Eminence PXB3:3K5 3-Way Speaker Crossover Board 500/3,500 Hz
Eminence pxb board-only crossovers are a lower cost alternative to the "cabinet ready" models and are targeted specifically for custom cabinet projects as they do not include the terminal cup, input connectors or L-pad found on the "cabinet ready" models. They feature advanced circuit design to both preserve the crossover and your drivers. A benefit of the design is to form a voltage divider across the high frequency driver. The high-pass protection uses custom-built aerospace lamps. The tungsten filaments effectively track the program material, dynamically maintaining a safe maximum current level to the high frequency driver without introducing distortion. This circuitry provides smooth 3:1 analog compression during input overload conditions over 250 watts RMS. At full drive level approaching clipping, the electrical attenuation to the protected high frequency driver is -4.5 dB. In every way, Eminence pxb crossovers are a technically superior product. For use with 8 ohm drivers.

Eminence PXB3:3K5 3-Way Speaker Crossover Board 500/3,500 Hz
Eminence PXB3:3K5 3-Way Speaker Crossover Board 500/3,500 Hz is rated 4.7273 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth their weight in gold.I built a PA system from scratch this past Summer. 4000 watts per side, with 9 drivers crossed over at 8 points. I ran this X-over in line with another from PE as well as an electronic X-over for subs. These cabs are 6'x2'x2'. The entire cab(s) are subs driven by 2 18s (each), with the mains built into the center front of the cabs. The mains house a 15, 12, 2x10s, 8, 2" mid high, and a high long throw horn. These cabs are also 'active'. The only way I could get a totally 'full' range system was to build it myself. It's awesome. But unfortunately, my mixing board turned out to be not so awesome. Last night during a rehearsal, a low to mid sweep pot shorted over and pumped the 3K to full on. The fuses in these X-overs lit so bright that they hurt our eyes. It took about 5 seconds to shut down. Not only did the fuses NOT blow, But BOTH pairs of horn drivers suffered ZERO damage. I still don't believe it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great crossoverI purchased these crossovers 1 year ago and they simply over achieve. No issue's, they can take a tone of power (McIntosh MC 2500 500 watts) and sound like they were custom made for my speakers. I'm using a 2404 JBL tweeter, Beyma 6.5" mid with a Beyma12" woofer, no issue's no complaints. These speakers with those crossovers will satisfy even the most discriminating listener!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ok but...I bought this to replace my 30 year old DIY crossover thinking it would make my speakers sound better. Unfortunately, because the midrange on this design is only a 6db/octave slope instead of my current 12db/octave slope, it blew out my midrange within an hour. Ouch.

Eminence PXB3:3K5 3-Way Speaker Crossover Board 500/3,500 Hz

Didn't ask my question completely. My cabs will have two EM-428's in parallel and one ET-338 (all morel). will this cross over handle this application ok.

Asked by: Porky
not recommended for 4 ohm loads. It will change the crossover point by half.

Each cabinet will have two Morel EM-428 mids in parallel. Is this xover good for this application?

Asked by: Porky
This crossover is intended to be used with 8 ohm loads for each driver so if the Morels are 8 ohm, you would need a crossover designed for 4ohm loads in the midrange

I've updated a 3 way sealed system with a Phenolic Ring Tweeter from PE and Visaton W300-8 12" drivers (mids say 1-4.5khz but may have been relpaced).  Currently only has resistors to the mid and tweeter. Would this be a good match?  (Box is 2'x13"x15")

Asked by: ioev
Without knowing which midrange is being used it is impossible to say. As long as it can handle a crossover of 500 Hz on the low end this should not be an issue.

Is it possible to get a four ohm load off this crossover so I can utilize higher output from my amplifier?  Thanks.

Asked by: Pikeaxe
The crossover itself does not determine impedance. If you were to use 4 ohm woofers you would get the full potential of a 4 ohm stable amplifier.

How do I hook-up two 8 ohm woofers to the low-pass filter part of the crossover?

Asked by: ibmclonne
You will have to wire the woofers in parallel, positive to positive and negative to negative.

I know this crossover uses 8ohm mids and tweets, but I was wondering if the woofer section is 4 and 8ohm like the dayton crossovers?

Asked by: Larry23
Unfortunately these will only work properly with 8 ohm drivers throughout. The Daytons have a jumper that allows a shift in the crossover point to make up for the change in woofer impedance, this is something no other crossovers we sell offer.
