Eminence PX2:1K6 2-Way Speaker Crossover 1,600 Hz
Eminence px cabinet-ready crossovers feature advanced circuit design to both preserve the crossover and your HF drivers. A common crossover problem is L-pad failure brought about by winding burnout when maximum attenuation is prolonged. Full attenuation concentrates the maximum voltage drop in a small winding area - a potentially damaging state even with high-power L-pad devices. In px crossovers, current is limited when the high frequency level control is set to '0' on its scale (±9 dB attenuation). A secondary benefit of the design is to form a voltage divider across the high frequency driver. The high-pass protection uses custom-built aerospace lamps. The tungsten filaments effectively track the program material, dynamically maintaining a safe maximum current level to the high frequency driver without introducing distortion. This circuitry provides smooth 3:1 analog compression during input overload conditions over 250 watts RMS. At full drive level approaching clipping, the electrical attenuation to the protected high frequency driver is -4.5 dB. In every way, Eminence px crossovers are a technically superior product. For use with 8 ohm drivers.

Eminence PX2:1K6 2-Way Speaker Crossover 1,600 Hz
Eminence PX2:1K6 2-Way Speaker Crossover 1,600 Hz is rated 4.8333 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love This CrossoverThis crossover is a little high priced, but it delivers everything it claims to. The sound quality is excellent, very well built, and the tweeter volume control does make a difference. Rebuilt a pair of old 15" Kustom speakers. Using a pair of these Eminence Crossovers, a pair of Selenium D 250-X GW 1" Phenolic Horn Drivers I bought from Parts Express, and a pair of 15" Peavey Black Widow speakers that I already had. Now these speakers sound like main P.A. speakers should sound like. I can hear every note with clarity now, and I can control the highs too. Got this model because it already has everything built onto it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from goodThe eminence light bulb protect circuit really works. The componets are high quality and it sounds really good. The l pad is kind of gradual. When serious padding is needed yo may want to add some extra padding to say a really hot horn. I am using a 3mh coil in place of the low pass section with my particular woofer. P.S. I find the hivi larger series 2 planars to be entirely acceptable for pro sound with the eminence protection behind them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Eminience Crossover RocksWe run a staging/lighting/audio rental company and recently built new mid/hi cabinets utilizing these crossovers. I love the 2 speakon and 2 1/4 " connections. The protection circuity works very well and everyone comments on our ported cabinets when the lights flash. It is a signature thing. Could be better if rated for more RMS power but I HIGHLY recommend them. Leaton Sound speakers rock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Home Audio RepairInstallation and replacement for original Peavey Speaker Crossover went very well. Perfect fit! That's always a big plus. Sound was fantastic, better than original equipment. Value was somewhat better than original but not as good as if the Dayton Crossovers originally desired, but out of stock. Thanks Parts Express for suggesting these Eminence Crossovers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fierst Rate performanceI bought a pair of these Eminence crossovers to upgrade a pair of inexpensive mains speakers with an Eminence Horn and horn driver. The crossover and horn components cost more than the original speakers did! However, I was blown away by the performance! The speaker power handling, connectivity, control and clarity were astounding. When playing break music from a iPod through the system (Crown power amps) they sound better than many people's home stereo systems (I should know, I worked in high-end audio manufacturing for many years and have a lot of experience in evaluating sound quality). This is a great place to start for clarity in a high-power vocal PA application. At a recent outdoor gig, we had an unfortunate incident that resulted in a full power feedback signal through the mains for a few seconds. This was pushing about 2 to 3kHz at 500 watts per side and the protective tungsten lamps blew (all of a sudden there were no high frequencies). When the lamps were replaced (always carry replacements) the horn drivers came right back and sounded as good as ever. This goes to show just how effective the protective devices in these crossovers are. Top-notch sound clarity and effective protection against real-life accidents make these crossovers (and the Eminence drivers they saved) top notch in my book and worth every penny I invested in them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You can't go wrong with Eminence. This crossover is ready to install into your enclosure. It has both 1/4" and Speakon connectors, TWO of each in case you are stacking. While not mega high power, it can handle whatever you will send it in a small club environment. It has an LED that flashes whenever its limiter circuitry is activated. This circuitry protects you HF drivers. It's a little strange though because the LED is INSIDE the enclosure when the unit is installed in your enclosure, and so you would never know it's working unless it is a ported enclosure and you just happen to be looking into the port tube when the volume is loud enough to activate the limiter. Can you spell DEAF? There's a POT for adjusting HF loudness. Comes in handy for adjusting the sound to the room. Not only all this, but it's heavy duty and looks good.

Eminence PX2:1K6 2-Way Speaker Crossover 1,600 Hz

is this a good full range replacement for some peavey SP2s?

Asked by: Silverado
I don't see why it wouldn't work fine. If memory serves me, those boxes have passive internal crossovers? If so the Eminence crossover will give you more control over attenuation of the HR driver to adjust the treble output of the speaker boxes. While you can adjust this with your equalization (either rack unit or on the board), it is typical for commercial PA speakers with internal passive crossovers to have a little too much or too little high frequency output. Peavy makes similar crossovers, although the only ones that I have used came with speakers I bought. It's been a while, and I cant remember if they had the attenuation switch, or not. If not, I would certainly recommend the Eminence unit for the extra amount of control and protection of your HF drivers that it offers.

Is the 400w rating the total power rating for woofer & horn?

I have a pair of Eminence Kappa-15LFA 600w @8ohm & a Selenium 220ti HF driver 80w@8ohm. My mixer puts out 500w per side. I sometimes use a Yamaha amp thats rated 600w per side. Will this crossover handle the extra power?
Asked by: Bassman 5000
This crossover is designed to handle loads up to 400 watts for extended periods of time. I'm sure it will handle short bursts of 5-600 watts but anything that high for longer than a minute or so the components will start to heat up and begin to fail.

Question about use in Bass Guitar cab.

I have an Ampeg 4X8" Bass cab that was rewired with 4 Dayton Audio ST210-8 8" Series II Woofers in an 8ohm configuration. Also, the original crossover and horn were removed. Sounds great, but I have no speaker protection, and occaisonally I wouldn't mind switching in a tweeter with a variable volume. Any suggestions on Xover board/tweeter combo's? I want it to stay 8 Ohms post-mod. Thanx!
Asked by: Nielex
This is a great Xover even though it is really designed for a full range speaker cabinet. It will work for what you want. They also have the same unit with a crossover point at 3600hz. I would probably recommend that one just to keep most of the power in the 4 drivers and only use the tweeter/horn for highest bass notes. It is the exact same unit with different xover point so it would work great. Parts Express stocks both. Be sure to order a spare set of high frequency lamps just in case you get too radical with power amp.

Can I modify this crossover for a steeper rolloff of woofer?

I am using this in a 2 cu' PA box with a Selenium D220TI driver, Dayton H6512 waveguide, and 12" MCM woofer. There is a peak around 2k which corresponds to a peak in the woofer's freq response, so I'd like to modify the crossover to make the woofer roll off quicker.Suggestions? Thanks!
Asked by: Soundside
There is no easy way of doing this unfortunately. You would have to calculate a type of notch filter that would go between the crossover and woofer to help with this. You would be farther ahead bumping these frequencies down with a standard graphic EQ.

Use with 4 ohm drivers?

Could you use this crossover with 4 ohm drivers? Would this simply half the crossover point (to 800Hz)?I'm planning a build using a B&G Neo8 Planar and a TangBand W5-1138SM woofer crossed over at 800Hz.Suggestions?
Asked by: BrentC
Technically yes this will work but your crossover point will not be exactly half. This is a textbook design and will not be the best match for those drivers. I would recommend a custom crossover for this design.
