Eminence Patriot The Copperhead 10" Guitar Speaker 75W 8 Ohm

Nothing says "American Made" like rock 'n roll or blues. And nothing says "Classic" tone like the Patriot Series of guitar amp speakers from Eminence. Made in the U.S.A. for stand-up volume and reliable, rockin' clarity. The Eminence Copperhead 10" guitar speaker makes a wonderful replacement for the Oxford 12M6-4 guitar speaker found in the '60 - '63 Fender Bandmaster Blonde Guitar Amplifier as well as numerous other guitar speakers found in Fender, Crate, Marshall, Mesa Boogie, Peavey, and Rivera guitar amplifiers. Seven-year manufacturer's warranty.

Electric guitars, guitar amplification, and the birth of Rock-n-Roll in the 1950's collectively established a new use for loudspeakers. Speaker choices were limited in those days and amplifier manufacturers had to purchase products that were common to other applications. Usually, this meant a low-power speaker, often with an Alnico magnet, and limited cone and coil travel.

Due to the nature of the speaker's construction, the sound of the guitar and amplifier combination was impacted by the speaker design. Amplified guitar was a bit more aggressive duty than most other speaker applications at the time and the speakers were frequently challenged in terms of their mechanical movement and linearity. Guitarist learned how to control this non-linearity and use the resulting tonal characteristics to their advantage. Speaker break-up became cool and was a desired feature by most guitarists. The great guitar tones we know now are a result of those events.

Although there are a multitude of distinctive guitar speaker tones available today, they can be broken down into two main categories. We have Marshall and Celestion to thank for the distinctively "British tones" that we are so familiar with. Fender, Peavey, and SLM (Crate/Ampeg) worked with speaker companies like Eminence, Oxford, CTS, JBL, and Electro-Voice to establish tones that are distinctively "American".

Eminence is proud to present the Patriot™ and Red Coat™ series of guitar speakers. Incorporating both British and American cone technology into speakers that are manufactured in the USA gives us the ability to provide you with virtually any tone you desire. Be it British or American, clean or dirty, big bass or screaming highs, we have a speaker that will allow you to "Pick Your Sound".

Eminence Patriot The Copperhead 10" Guitar Speaker 75W 8 Ohm is rated 4.3333 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just what the Envoy neededReplaced the stock speaker in a Chinese-made Envoy with this one. It re-balanced the mid response more to my liking (less low-mid, more mid-mid). The high frequencies are sparkly if you dial them up.Makes me want an effects loop in the 1x10 solid state amp so it sets up like my tube amps. It pairs well with the 1/4 pound telecaster pick-ups.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fender chimey clean and then onto that singing compression .They don't ever really 'break up'.....Check the Red Coat models for that . These work great for the classic Fender Telecaster and Strat sounds . Recommended for open back cabs , not so much for closed cabs ; Highs get constipated .Great litttle speakers at a reasonable price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Copperhead is a great choiceI bought two copperheads to experiment with in a Fender Super Reverb. As seen in my other reviews, I also tried the Ragin Cajun. If you like to keep the traditional Fender amp sound and keep some sparkle, this is the best choice in Patriot Line in my opinion. My best results for what I was trying to achieve were from running two copperheads on the bottom and keeping the stock P10R speakers on top in the super. This offers a little more low end, but also retains the treble quite nicely and does not dampen the amp down too much. If you want it less bright, but still with crystal clear tone, running 4 copperheads would probably get you there, and if you want even more damping (roll off highs), maybe try two ragin cajuns on the bottom and two copperheads on top. The copperhead is a great speaker. Eminence describes it as very bright, which it is, but not as bright as a traditional P10R and also not as bright as thier P10R replacement in the legend series. This speaker is built like a tank, but still relatively light. It appears to be very robust and durable. Great choice. I would use this one again in a second!

Eminence Patriot The Copperhead 10" Guitar Speaker 75W 8 Ohm

The Xmax is listed as 0.0mm.  Is that correct?

Asked by: Sails
This is considered an "even-hung" coil. Since the cone doesn't need to move far for a guitar application this helps with sensitivity and extended upper frequency response.
