Electric guitars, guitar amplification, and the birth of Rock-n-Roll in the 1950's collectively established a new use for loudspeakers. Speaker choices were limited in those days and amplifier manufacturers had to purchase products that were common to other applications. Usually, this meant a low-power speaker, often with an Alnico magnet, and limited cone and coil travel.

Due to the nature of the speaker's construction, the sound of the guitar and amplifier combination was impacted by the speaker design. Amplified guitar was a bit more aggressive duty than most other speaker applications at the time and the speakers were frequently challenged in terms of their mechanical movement and linearity. Guitarist learned how to control this non-linearity and use the resulting tonal characteristics to their advantage. Speaker break-up became cool and was a desired feature by most guitarists. The great guitar tones we know now are a result of those events.

Although there are a multitude of distinctive guitar speaker tones available today, they can be broken down into two main categories. We have Marshall and Celestion to thank for the distinctively "British tones" that we are so familiar with. Fender, Peavey, and SLM (Crate/Ampeg) worked with speaker companies like Eminence, Oxford, CTS, JBL, and Electro-Voice to establish tones that are distinctively "American".

Eminence is proud to present the Patriot™ and Red Coat™ series of guitar speakers. Incorporating both British and American cone technology into speakers that are manufactured in the USA gives us the ability to provide you with virtually any tone you desire. Be it British or American, clean or dirty, big bass or screaming highs, we have a speaker that will allow you to "Pick Your Sound".

Eminence Patriot Lil'Texas Neo 12" Guitar Speaker 125W 8 Ohm
Eminence Patriot Lil'Texas Neo 12" Guitar Speaker 125W 8 Ohm is rated 4.3333 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why would anyone use speakers with conventional magnets anymore? This punchy little speaker is a fraction of the weight of a conventional magnet speaker. Give your back a break and switch to neodymium speakers. You won't lose anything in tone or reliability, just the weight of a fully loaded speaker cabinet. I was skeptical, now I'm a believer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Eminence Lil texas 12 in. neodymium speakerNice tight all around good sound, The big plus is in saving weight. These speakers need a bit of breaking in time so IM still breaking mine in. I bought one and liked it so much I purchased another.. Of course I lke their made in USA.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great speaker!I'm using it to increase the volume of my little Super Champ XD (15) and its doing that nicely. Tone is as good as the Fender speaker, with a bit more convincing bass, as you would expect from a 12 vs a 10 inch speaker.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm sound and light weight in the same packageI play jazz so I don't know how it breaks up. This speaker does add some color, but I am happy with the warm tight sound. People talk about the high end bite, but mine is pretty smooth on top. The bottom is articulate without any boominess. It weights in at 4 lbs so I was able to shave almost 6 lbs off my Blues Junior combo and that makes a difference.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Eminence makes the best neo speakers I have tried.I have bought 3 Jensen, 1 Weber, and now 2 Eminence neo speakers. I like the Eminence's and did not like the other two. I have the NeoLite and the Lil Texas. The Neolite has a bigger low end. They go well together. I can adjust my amp and volume on my guitar to get the tone I want. I have owned every speaker out there two or three times and I am sticking with these two in my Pro Reverb because they are lightweight and they sound very good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Speaker and Very LightI'm amazed at how light this speaker is and good it sounds for it's light weight.
