The Eminence Legend 1258 was created to replicate the sound of the famous Jensen Alnico guitar speakers and Oxford and Utah 12’s used in many vintage guitar cabinets of the 50’s and 60’s. In many cases the Legend 1258 will work as a drop in replacement for the following guitar cabinets: Ampeg Gemini I 12” 1964-1971, Ampeg Jet 1957-1963, Ampeg Super Echo Twin 1963-1964 EM1201, Fender 65 Twin Reissue 1991, Fender Bandmaster Black, Silver 1963-1974 and Blonde 1960-1963, Fender Bassman Black 1963-1967, Bassman Browne and Blonde 1961-1962 Oxford (12M5-6), and Bassman Silvere 1967-1968 (12” Oxford and 12” Utah). Fender Blues Deluxe, Fender Blues DeVille, and Blues Junior all used an Eminence special design driver very similar to the Legend 125. As well as the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, and Hot Rod Deville (12 inch version of course). Fender Pro Black Reverb 1968-1967, Fender Pro Silver Reverb 1968-1981 (Utah 12”), Fender Quad Reverb Silver 1972-1979 (Oxford 12T6 and Utah). Fender Super 112 1990-1993 and Fender Super 60 1988-1993. Drop in replacement for the Oxford 12T6 used in the famous Fender Twin Reverb Black 1963-1967 and the Twin Reverb Silver 1967-1981. Fender Twin Tweed 1952-1963, and the Fender Woody Junior. Also a great replacement for the Celestion 12” used in 1962 Marshall Bass/Lead cabinet.

No other speaker is used more widely as standard equipment in guitar and bass guitar amplifiers than Eminence! Most guitar speaker manufacturers are well known for a specific type of tone. Indeed Eminence is recognized for establishing the "American" rock, country, and blues tones. What really sets Eminence apart though is the ability to provide the guitarist with virtually any tone they desire! Rock, Metal, Country, Blues, British, Rap, Soul, and Alternative styles can be provided with one of the Legend models available. If you're not packing a Legend, you're probably not playing like one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eminence Legend 1258 12"I bought a pair of these to install into a new 2 X 12 cabinet that I bought on line. Theplan was to have two legends set up for a harp amp I'm having built. I have legends in other amps and these speakers sound great with harmonica andguitar. Anyway, these speakers sound amazing, and they're real efficient so they don't require a lot of power to get the sound where you want it. Nice vintage vibe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New tone for my 79 Deluxe ReverbRight out of the box this Eminence Legend provided some wonderful tone. I used it at an outdoor gig not three days after it arrived and it was clear as a bell and broke up nicely when asked to. I'm very happy that quality can still be purchased without throwing in an arm and a leg. Thanks Eminence!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent performanceBought this as a component in building an extension speaker cabinet for a Strawberry Blonde amp due to the fact that the matched extension speaker for the amp is no longer manufactured. The performance is excellent and the cost including the other components for the extension was probably a third of the retail price of the original speaker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best speaker I have purchased!!!It wasn't just the reviews that won me over but the actual sound bytes on the Eminence Web Site and the email reply I received from Eminence to my question "which speaker is most like the Fender Special Design in my Fender Ultimate Chorus amp?" to which they replied that the Eminence Legend 1258 is the closest thing in our stock to the Fender Special Design (which is manufactured by Eminence). Let me say it is more! Higher perceived volume due to it's SPL rating, tighter slightly bigger lows, smooth mids and highs. I mainly play clean but was surprised that it actually smoothed the overdrive on this solid state amp to a point. NO Solid State amp will have as good of an overdriven tone as a tube amp but this took the chainsaw out of the sound for the most part. It was tolerable at least. I have had several Weber speakers including the 10F150, California's, Michigan (which I liked for it's cleans), an Electro-Voice EMV-12 which are very nice but very expensive, an Eminence Canabis Rex 12" and now these two Eminence Legend 1258's and none excited me more for price, quality, and good warm tone than these. Highly recommended. Very good speakers at a good price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great speaker for the price.I was looking for warm lows, good mids, and clean highs for a great price, and these speakers are it! After breaking them in, they really opened up. I am running them in a CMI/Gibson G70 (60 watts) with a few mods, and they give clean for blues and early rock. I would not recommend them if you plan to overdrive, as I was not impressed when tried in my Traynor YGL-3 Mark 3. A great speaker for a great price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value in American vintage soundAs always, Eminence provides great value for the money. In this instance, I needed a vintage "Fender" sound for 2 new open back speaker cabinets I'd made for my 60w Bogner Shiva 6L6 guitar amp. I wanted an efficient speaker that wouldn't break up too soon, reproduced the single coil "Strat" tones and could be relied on to maintain the same volume (i.e., without drops) at any point on the fretboard. Skip (PE tech support) helped to ensure I pinpointed the right product for my needs. They've met my expectations in every way and were without question, a great buy. I purchased the other cabinet hardware from PE as well and my diy cabs sound great at 25% the cost.

Eminence Legend 1258 12" Guitar Speaker 75W 8 Ohm

Is the Legend 1258 available as a 4 ohm speaker?

Asked by: Hennessy
No, unfortunately, it is not available in a 4 ohm version. The closest we'd have to such a thing would be perhaps a nice Texas Heat, as referenced below.
