Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mesa Boogie PH-1200 15" replacementThis speaker was the perfect replacement for this Mesa speaker cab. Although I had Warranty with Mesa, I could wait three weeks for a replacement speaker or pay $230 shipping. I ordered the Kappa Pro from PE and had it in two days at a great price and the match is perfect !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best speaker in it's price rangeReplaced an old EV 15" from a two way speaker enclosure (PA is active xover 3 way stereo with 18" subs). The Eminence is tighter and more defined than the original EV and more headroom. In an active xover system suggest using an amp 2X the rated program wattage of the speaker i.e. if a speaker is rated program 400W rms @ 8 ohms, use an amp with 800W rms @ 8 ohms. Touring companies do this constantly and it allows the amp to deliver cleaner signal to the drivers. "Underpowering" a speaker usually drives the amp to clip which causes most speaker failures. Replacing with Eminence is a good alternative to buying a new cab with mediocre drivers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hard hittting and durableI pulled my old "Fisher" speakers from 1990 out of the shed. I replaced the blown woofers with the Eminence Kappa Pro-15LF-2 15". I also bought A QSC "GX5" amp as recommended by the Parts Express guy. After hooking the "GX5" amp to the headphone jack on my computer. I was ready to rock. And rock I did ! These woofers hit so hard that the speaker covers pop off when I crank it up. The speaker boxes slide backwards and had to be put on pillows to keep them at bay. I have had these Eminence Kappas for about 4 years now and they seem to never wear out. The only problem is they will cause sheetrock breakage if you crank them too much. The salesman at Parts Express suggested not using these in my living room but that made me want them even more. If your a hard core rocker, I recommend the Eminence Kappa Pro-15LF-2. Your neighbors will not be as thrilled though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blow your socks offI finally blew up the drivers/woofers in my 25 year old JBL 4430 Studio Monitors. I wasn't sure how I wanted to replace them but desided to try the Kappa Pro 15 LFs as they sounded like what I really needed and at 1/3 the price of the replacement JBLs I thought they were worth a try. I'm sure after all these years the JBLs were starting to get a little tired so its hard to compare the new Eminences to them but I'm sure they sound every bit as good or better than the original JBLs had when they were new. I'm very happy in my choice to say the least. I'm using a Nakamichi PA-7 200w x 200w Power Amplifier to drive them so you really don't need 800 watts to drive them as others have said. They have that clean kick and thump you feel right in your chest that I look for in a great sounding load speaker and would recommend them to anyone. So get a pair and rock on you won't be disappointed.

Eminence Kappa Pro-15LF-2 15" Cast Frame Driver

I am looking for a pair of speakers to replace a pair old JBL K140s in a musical instrument bass amplifier cabinet. Specifically, these are to go into a Sunn 200S cabinet from the late 60s. Would these work for that application?

Will this driver work well in a +/-6.0 cu.ft. vented box with 2 - 4"-D 4"-L ports as a stand alone PA sub and also will a crown xls 1500 amplifier give enough power to run this config. cleanly? I've already designed the box but can be modified if need be.

Asked by: eddy32
That volume is about twice the size it needs to be for this woofer, or most 15" drivers for that matter. If you were to add a second woofer to the enclosure you would have much better results. If you cannot add a second woofer, you will get optimal results with about 3 cubic feet. The ports would need to be lengthened to 7" for a tuning frequency of about 45 Hz.

I would like to use this driver in a 4.3 cub. ft. box with (4) 3 inch diameter ports 6 inches long. Checking Eminence's website, this is very close to one of their recommended designs. Can I match it with a PSD 2002 horn driver and PXB2:1K6 x-over?

Asked by: wezbu
Yes those will work well together.
