Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome speakerI use alot of Eminence for replacing blown speakers. I installed this Kappa in a B52 powered system works better than the original 15" sub that was in it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good sounding bass speaker.Very clear and clean with good lows down at low E and articulate throughout the neck on both Jazz and Pbass. Got this based on the other reviews. So, the positive reviews were very helpful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good StuffPut this in a powered B-52 sub (3 piece system) and my customer says it sounds way better than the origional B-52 sub ever did, and handles the power better. (go figure). I personally have not got to hear it yet, but My Customer is very happy so there we go. It was this customer's first time dealing with Me, and He has been back again for other stuff. Fact is I have never sold any Eminence speaker that did not please My customers and Myself with the "Steve Your The Best" attitude that My customers have afterwords!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Bass Cab Replacement Speaker!I purchased a used empty bass cab recently and needed a replacement speaker. First I installed my amp head (Hartke LH500) and then I ordered the Eminence Kappa-15LFA. I purchased the faster shipping opton. I placed my order at 3:45PM on a Friday. The next day at 1:30PM the speaker arrived at my house! Perfectly packed and super fast shipping! The speaker slid right in the bass cab (bass cab opening measured around 13.8"). Installation ws quick and easy. This speaker provides a very warm tone and can easily handle the power poduced by my amp (500W output - speaker is rated to handle 600W). I connectd my Hartke 4X10 Cab to the other 8-Ohm output of my amp. Now I am driving a 15" 8-Ohm cab and a 4X10 8-Ohm cab. Sounds great! The cab ended up being very heavy though. My LH500 is a heavy amp to begin with! The speaker is also fairly heavy. I would recommend this speaker as a perfect replacement. It should be considered an upgrade when compared to the stock speaker (stock speaker would have been rated at 200W).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from True lowsReplaced an EVBX-15 with this and heard lows I didn't have before. Granted a BX-15 isn't EV's top of the line, but I was absolutely enjoying the true 40hz I was getting from this under my Hartke 2-12 bottom. Great speaker for the price!

Does Parts Express have a pre-made enclosure for this speaker?

Asked by: sa91899
We have a 15" trapezoid knock down enclosure that will work for this driver. I would recommend a 4" diameter, 4" long port in this volume for a tuning frequency of 40 Hz.

What volume would work for a 2x15" sub cab using these drivers? Mostly rock, with occasional dance/hip hop use. Hoping for tight powerful bass for the rock use, with the ability to go low enough to perform decent for the dance/hip hop music.

Asked by: diy newb
I would recommend internal dimensions of 17"H x 42"W x 18"D with a single slot port that is 17"H x 3"W x 12"L for a tuning frequency of 35 Hz.

Any thoughts as to this speaker vs a CB158 for a ported Ampeg B115 cabinet? This speaker seems to spec out a little better for 10 more bucks
Asked by: Fender
This speaker surpasses the specs of the OEM. I replaced 2 - 15" Ampeg V4B speakers with a similar Eminance speaker and they did very well. My opinion is that you will have an upgrade in sound quality but a very slight decrease in the 134 spl.

What is the best repl. driver(s) under $200 for the JBX 125?

I recently upgraded the horn drivers with the Selenium 220ti. The highs have improved so much that the mids & lows are over matched. I've pulled down the mid freq. (1k +&-)in the EQ because it had that megaphone effect. Lows are weak. More low EQ just sounds boomy & muddies the sound, no punch. JBL says the JBX is a "quasi" 3-way. Not quite sure what quasi entails. I find several drivers I like, but which one? Do I repl. all 4 with the same model driver so they work together? or Can I use 2 LF drivers to get better lows & 2 quality mid bass drivers to punch up the mids? That quasi thing is messing with me.
Asked by: Bassman 5000
Let's take this one bit at a time. When you change a driver - you have to consider the efficiency of each one. So the Selenium may sound better in its range - but can effect the overall balance of the system and make it sound bad. If it is more efficient - you need to pad it down if there is not an "L" pad for the tweeter output. That would account for the apparent low bass output. You may be over-EQing and under amplifying... You especially need a lot of power when using EQ for DJing. As for replacing all the drivers - don't. If you don't like these speakers - sell them and either buy a speaker you like or build something from scratch. Finding woofers to fit the cabinet etc and a full crossover redesign would be very cost prohibitive and a compromise not doing it from the ground up.... And now - here's how the quasi thing works... Both woofers cover the bass range. One woofer is rolled off in the mid-bass range, and the other is rolled off higher to allow it to function as a midrange as well, crossing over to the tweeter. Very common design. If you correct the level on the Selenium, have the right power and use your EQ correctly - this system should sound very good.
