Eminence Designer Speaker Box Design Software

Eminence Designer is a state-of-the-art speaker enclosure design program for PCs running Windows 95, 98, NT4 or later. With Eminence Designer, box design is as easy at 1-2-3: 1. Enter the speaker parameters (for Eminence speakers, simply select the model; other speaker parameters can be entered manually). 2. Calculate the box volume and tuning. This is very easy with the help of the "Suggest" box. 3. Evaluate the performance with any of the nine graphs. It can take many hours solving complex equations manually with a calculator to design a box that will bring out the best bass response from a speaker. Eminence Designer can do this for you in seconds - it can even suggest a box for your speaker. Eminence Designer models closed, vented, bandpass and passive radiator boxes. It will print box drawings and graphs for a professional presentation. Eminence Designer is quick to learn and easy to use. When the program is first run, a "Welcome" window will appear to help you configure the program and to guide you through its illustrated online manual. System Requirements: Microsoft Windows 95, 98, NT4 or later and a compatible computer (IBM PC with a Pentium processor or equivalent) with at least 16 MB of RAM (32 MB recommended), 17-23 MB of free hard disk space and a CD-R compatible CD-ROM or DVD drive. The Arial and Symbol TrueType fonts must be installed (both fonts are a standard part of Windows).

Eminence Designer Speaker Box Design Software
Eminence Designer Speaker Box Design Software is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works GreatAfter using this program for years, I've learned how to really use it. I've built some really nice speaker cabinets for pa use and for my bass guitar. The main key is to have good Theil perimeters and understanding of the graphs. Be creative, do your homework and it will pay off. Love it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good productI've been using Designer for years now. It works very well, if you understand at least a little bit about speakers, enclosures, and general speaker enclosure principles. It's nice to be able to import the Eminence drivers directly, and the software is very flexible with regard to enclosure shape, style, number of drivers, etc. It will not do everything for you, but it will do the hard stuff, and get you in the ballpark on enclosure design. It's a very valuable tool for the hobbyist, amateur or professional.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from EASY AS 1-2-3 ?JUNK !First disc was defectiveSecond disc loaded after a dozen attempts, & it's just weak at best. I would bet my life that Eminence does NOT use this program to design there product. It's a guessing game with a graph to show what you (might) get.It chose very lame starting points like a 7 Cu ft box for a 8" driver. Start over & a 4 footer was suggested.FAR FROM 1_2_3Also, since you have to run the disc EVERY time you want to use the program YOU PAID FOR, it just keeps me from ever wanting to use it.Very let down from my favorite speaker company.......

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Didn't Do What I NeededEminence Designer advertises "Box Design is as easy as 1-2-3". Following are excerpts from replies to my e-mails: "From the direction that your questions are coming, it seems like you want a computer program that will allow you to enter the kind of music you want to play, the drivers you want to use, and it will automatically design an appropriate cabinet for you. As far as we are aware, such a program does not exist". "The current state of the art is this: The designer first determines (on their own) what kind of response they want from their guitar speaker. Then they design a cabinet that produces that response. Next, they build a prototype and test it. Often, they return to their design, make changes and build another prototype until they are satisfied". I know the sound I'm looking for, and have selected drivers. What I don't know is how to combine the drivers, box design, and materials to get that sound. Prototyping as suggested,is not an option, since I'm not a manufacturer. The program itself is intuitive, does complex calculations, and makes graphs. But if you're not sure what to put in and how to interpret what's coming out, it may result in garbage in garbage out. Cabient maufacturers usually don't publish the proprietary input needed for such an analysis. Interpretation guidlelines for music style and cabinet material vs. software output would have been nice, no need to be automatic. My bad for not investigating further(i.e. no refunds). I do have to commend the staffs, both at Harris Tech. and Eminence for being professional, even when I wasn't, but that doesn't change my impression of this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good buy for the moneyI've built a lot of speaker cabinets for my p.a.,some turn out sounding good others not so good, doing the math on paper. This program gets rid of the guess work. It seems to work well with all the newer speakers out on the market, especially eminence, but some of the responce curves and port sizes on some of the older JBL,and PEAVEY speakers seem to be off. I compared the response curve to WinISD, (a free, highly rated shareware program), that worked with the older speakers. I'm going to build some nice stereo speakers for my garage, I'm still in the designing stage. The speakers I have in mind seem to work well with this program,(when compared to the other program responce curves come up identical). The program seems to work well for what I need at this time. I don't regret buying it!

Eminence Designer Speaker Box Design Software

Will this software run on windows 8 ? Whats the difference between this software and Bassbox 6 Pro? They are both distributed by Harris Tech.

Asked by: John58
The Eminence Speaker Designer is virtually identical to BassBox Lite with minor differences. Those differences include the Eminence software disk has to be installed in order to use it, BassBox does not. Also, BassBox includes a driver database which has tens of thousands of models, whereas the Emimence only includes a database for their own drivers.

Book Manual?

Does this software come with a book manual?DC
Asked by: dc270
Unfortunately, software rarely comes with manuals anymore - opting for intuitive interfaces and good help menus. I think you will find the software fairly easy to use. It is akin to staring a new project. It will contain a library of drivers, and you can add drivers of your choosing to the library if you have the T/S parameters. From there - you can view ported and sealed versions, experiment with response curves and create boxes to correct acoustic dimensions and ports where applicable.
