Eminence APT-80 Super Tweeter with 80 degree Conical Horn
Eminence APT-80 Super Tweeter with 80 degree Conical Horn is rated 4.6471 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent tweeter for the priceI used this to replace the two tweeters in an old set of Cerwin Vega H15's. They are the exact same size and screwed right in place old the old ones. Just using a single APT-80 sounds 100% better than the twin CV tweeters. I had to make a square cover plate to cover the 2nd tweeter hole.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a replacement for itself!Bought one of these to replace the exact same model, and guess what? It didn't fit. It was an Orange 4x10 bass cab. Really, really stupid in my opinion to switch sizes on people. Only buy these for new builds, can't say the original lasted all that long in the Orange either. Come on guys.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent tweeterThis was used with an Eminence woofer for building an extension speaker for a Strawberry Blonde amp. I believe it was speced in the original, no longer manufactured extension speaker. Excellent sound reproduction.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tight, Clean, SharpAn excellent bullet tweeter at a good price: This one of 4 Eminence tweeters I'm using between 2 pair of speakers on 2 different systems. With another brand, I've heard hiss and a scratchiness in some types of instrumentation, but these tweeters are tight and give you nothing but the sound that your system is producing itself. I've used these for approx. 3 years and recently had to replace one when my amplifier went nuts. This is a no-regret speaker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SweetRecently scored a vintage British made pre-Kaman Trace Elliot 1048 bass cabinet. Ther were 2 flavours, the other being the 1048H as in, err, HORN. This brute of a cabinet is loaded with celestions, ridiculously heavy by todays standards, but will knock china off your neighbour's walls. For a hoot, I lit a kitchen match in front of the port and hit a lo b and it blew it out with ease. I wanted a bit more hi-end articulation, so I added this tweeter in the stock spot (right in the centre, had to relocate the baffle brace but no biggie- angle irons and wood glue did the trick) with the Eminence PXB3K5 High Pass Crossover Board. I didnt use an L pad as I always set those at "flat" anyway and control the tone with the bass head. I find this tweeter to be an excellent addition to this cabinet. Its not overpowering, shrill, or nasal sounding AT ALL. Blends with the "middy" 10's rather bully. Not as "open" as a soft dome, and somewhat directional, but ITS A HORN. The stock OEM FOSTEX tweeter was close to $100 without a crossover so I figured how could i go wrong? For a $60 upgrade this was a VERY worthwhile upgrade and I couldnt be more pleased. One caveat: The cutout hole specified is 7cm #2.75 in# and the magnet fit through the hole, but some ribs on the back of the horn mounting flange wouldnt let it sit flush. 2 minutes with a dremel took care of THAT.

Would this be a good replacement for an Ampeg 4x10HE. Any other advice for a replacement for this cab?

Asked by: Peghead
It should be a good option in terms of sound. I do not have any dimensions on what Ampeg used in this application though. It would be best to doublecheck the hole in the box and horn size but if they fit, it should do well.

I need to replace the super tweeter on a SWR California Blond.  Would this speaker work for this application?  Would I need to replace the crossover also?

Asked by: acechandle
This depends on a lot of things. The tweeter will likely require cabinet mods in order to fit properly regardless. If the original was a standard horn type tweeter with a crossover, this will probably work fine with only a few cabinet mods. If the original was a piezo type tweeter, this will require a high pass filter for protection from low frequencies.

Would the APT-80 be a good choice for a bass speaker cab ?  I am building a (2) x 10" cab…..2 Eminence B 102's (8) ohm in para.  Thank you.

Asked by: Jim470
Yes this would be a good choice for a bass cab application.
