Product Details

Denovo Audio Knock-Down MDF 3.0 cu. ft. Subwoofer Cabinet for Dayton Audio 15" Reference Series HO Subwoofer

Even the easiest do-it-yourself subwoofer can turn into an arduous project; from uneven cuts, to measuring mistakes. CNC knock-down cabinets make it easy for the beginner to end up with amazing finished results without all of the time and effort necessary to perfect your woodworking skills. This cabinet is designed for speaker builders and designers who don't have access to expensive tools or a woodshop.

This particular cabinet is designed specifically for the Dayton Audio 15" Reference Series High Output subwoofer, but works for any subwoofer with an overall diameter of 15-3/8" or less, and a cutout requirement of 14-1/16" or less. The sealed enclosure design creates a critically damped subwoofer system when used with the Dayton Audio RSS390HO-4.

During the CNC manufacturing process, rabbets dadoes are cut into the back panel for precise panel alignment. A unique two-piece brace adds superior rigidity without affecting the subwoofer's performance. Both side panels feature 3/4" rabbeted extensions with recesses to perfectly install the first piece of the two-part, double thick baffle. Plate amplifier installation is made easy by following the scribed interior guide with a jig saw and by modifying one of the braces.

The end result is a resonance-free, sealed subwoofer cabinet that is purpose-built to extract the best performance from Dayton Audio's 15" High Output Reference Series subwoofer. All that's left to do is finish it to match your décor or paint it to stand out. When your friends ask about it, you get the pleasure of saying, "I built it myself!"

Denovo Audio Knock-Down MDF 3.0 cu. ft. Subwoofer Cabinet for Dayton Audio 15" Reference Series HO Subwoofer
Denovo Audio Knock-Down MDF 3.0 cu. ft. Subwoofer Cabinet for Dayton Audio 15" Reference Series HO Subwoofer is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easiest sub build ever! The kit arrived on time and in perfect condition. The CNC cut parts fit with absolute precision. Being a freak about box resonance, I added extra stiffening to the larger box walls (made use of some MDF scrap in my shop) but I doubt any put the pickiest would hear the difference. Unless you have specific dimensional requirements to fit in a particular location, you are money ahead buying this kit Vs. gas/time/hassle of getting/cutting/fabricating from raw stock MDF.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good ValueBought this (the second one) to mount one of the Reference speakers in. With a little care in assembly it will come out great. Since both of them are hidden from sight I opted not to paint them.Drilling the holes for the speaker is critical because there is so little clearance. It would be easy to break out the edges but it can be done.

Getting two of these with the HF version of the Dayton sub.  How much polyfil do you recommend for each cabinet? Also will it work ok if I use an external amp and not utilize the cutout? As far as structural integrity of the box?

Asked by: Kalifornian
We recommend a half pound of stuffing per cubic foot of volume. Yes you can use an external amp, although removing the one cross brace in the back will not effect cabinet stiffness enough to matter.

Is there enough room in the bottom front corners of this enclosure to install a pair of Precision Port 2" Flared Speaker Cabinet Port Tubes? The parts-express Part # 268-348, and the outside flare diameter is 5-1/4".

Asked by: mustang guy
Unfortunately no, the flared ports would have to be mounted on the side or rear of the enclosure.

Just trying to make sure if the Dayton Audio 15" Titanic Mark III will fit in this cabinet.

Asked by: Snowman_
The Titanic 15 will work well in the volume although the baffle will need to be cut out larger to accommodate the woofer since the frame of the Titanic is slightly larger.

Would this cabinet work for a 15 inch co-axial altec lansing voice of the theater speaker

Asked by: Richmd
This box is intended for the RSS390, which has a little larger frame than typical. The cutout for that is 14.03 and the outside diameter is 15.29 inches.
